Jerry Brown.
Meg Whitman was too canned and promised too much.I am still waiting to see a sign that Whitman understands the issues a layer deeper than her consultant-driven talking points. And when you try to add up her promises, well, they don't add up.
I want a governor who will tell voters what they don't want to hear.

Let me give it a try. Voters — we’re going to have to cut spending and stop taxing people so much.

"token conservative. "
She's a real conservative, and she is right.
Whitman is the WORST possible choice for governor of CA no matter the field.

So let me get this straight. She lost the debate because she said what people wanted to hear and Jerry Brown didn’t.
OK, so this is some definition of “winning a debate” I’m not sure I understand.

Jerry Brown is hardly what the State of California needs at this point, but then neither is Whitman.
It’s a sad time for Californians that is what we have to choose from.

Having lived in Calif. for almost 40 years, and having seen Brown as gov, mayor of O-Town, failed prez candidate, and now attorney general, I can truly say that I'm tired of the bum and I wish he'd just go away. He was a horrible gov, and there's nothing in either his past nor his present practices that would make me think, or even hope, that he'd do things differently. I'll take Whitman over that clown any day.

I can tell you who the loser will be after this election: Conservatives in California.
Neither candidate represents conservatives.
To: SmithL
The loser is: the state of California.
To: pissant
She couldnt be worse than Jerry Brown, Arnold or Gray Davis.
She's at least as bad as Arnold.
She'll do anything and say anything to get elected as the last 8 months have shown, what do you think she'll do in office?
To: Mariner
Except for left apartchik Steve Poizner.
To: SmithL
Certainly a disheartening situation.
I although read the readers’ comments, and although they were written by liberals, I’m afraid they all made sense.

Same crap as the other three I mentioned. I didn’t say she was better, just not worse. That would be nearly impossible.

I wish I could agree with you on this matter.
I think if she is elected, we'll actually be looking back with less acrimony towards Arnold. She makes Arnold look like a piker where lying is concerned.

I sure doesn’t sound like a good day to load up on California municipal bonds.

Whitman is the WORST possible choice for governor of CA no matter the field. She's no worse than Gray Davis or The Jerkinator and Governor Moonbeam's first go as Governor. All three of them have collectively augered the state into the ground economically.
If the voters vote either Whitman or Brown in, they deserve what's coming to them.

She have to hand back California to Mexico to top the rank stupidity and incompetence of these other clowns. And FWIW, she might.
