That’s what I thought, too. Religion doesn’t matter to me. My personal relationship with Jesus does.
In formal Christian doctrine, ‘religion’ is the public and corporate expression of faith. If you have no corporate praxis (what you do to express your faith), then you have no religion. As you note, that doesn’t mean you have no faith, just that you would not publicly express it.
