September 25, 2010, 11:02 am By MICHAEL D. SHEAR Even before the Pledge to America was unveiled Thursday by the House Republican leadership, some conservatives were grumbling that it didnt go far enough, calling it a watered-down manifesto. But the 45-page document appears to have some significant support on the right. Sarah Palin, the 2008 vice presidential candidate and former governor of Alaska, indicated her approval the other day, saying in a Twitter message that she was Taking the Pledge! Americans should be proud to support the commonsense,Constitutional solutions; NRO spot-on editorial http://bit.ly/ahw0ch. Rush Limbaugh used his daily rant on Thursday to question the attacks on the pledge, which he called common sense. It is what people are clamoring for, Mr. Limbaugh told his listeners. People want an end to what is happening now. They want the brakes applied to the Obama agenda.

Bachmann praises GOP's 'Pledge to America'
WASHINGTON The new agenda that House Republican leaders unveiled Thursday could have been written by voters in Minnesotas 6th Congressional District, according to U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann, R-Stillwater, said the 21-page manifesto, called A Pledge to America, reflects what shes been hearing from constituents week in and week out as she travels the district. What you see in this pledge is a lot of what I hear people calling for ... all across the 6th District, Bachmann said. The document is reminiscent of the Contract With America that Republicans rode to victory in their 1994 takeover of the House for the first time in four decades. It calls for shrinking government size, reducing spending, streamlining regulations and cutting taxes. More specifically, it calls for the repeal of President Barack Obamas health care legislation and rescinding whats left of stimulus money. Implementing the proposals would go a long way to steady the economy, Bachmann said.
Bachmann said she was particularly moved by the pledges preamble, because there are echoes of Thomas Jefferson. It calls on us to recommit to the Declaration of Independence. House Republicans should urge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to work with them to act on some items immediately, Bachmann said.
This is a working document, not a campaign document, said Bachmann, who is seeking a third term in Congress. We dont want to wait until after November (elections) to implement this.
Count down to the third party bots coming here to whine hysterically that it is not perfect 3-2-1....
Palin’s scheduled for fumigators, cleaners and salvage to arrive at the GOP on November 2. By early next year she should have the interior decorators in to plan the new furnishings and measure for drapes. She’ll make it the ‘people’s party’ once again!
Memory may fail here, but in 1994 Newt’s Contract was 10 ‘We Will Do” items. The Republicans even managed to pass 8 or 9 of them in the first 100 days after the election. However, most of them then died in the Senate, never to be heard from again.
It’s that that has me worried. Sure, talk a good game, even make an effort after we believe you, but them just forget everything and fail to follow up after meeting a little resistance. Fool Me Once eh?
They will get their second chance, the TEA effort made the right move aiming both at out of control government and the complacent GOP. Will they listen this time?
We will know by 2012.
What’s with the typeface change?
Rush’s emphasis that this was a starting point seemed to sew things up.
That’s something we could all agree on.
Baby steps folks. First one little step is taken, shaky at first, then and another and before you know it you have an Olympic sprinter.
Damn it people it is at least a step in the right direction. It can be built upon
Am I the only one who has learned that words are cheap, especially just before elections. Or perhaps I am wrong and McCain is really going to secure the border this time!
