However, this country—including conservatives ( even Reagen !)have been hypocritical. For decades now we have allowed illegals here by not putting up a fence, by not sending them back, by not enforcing our immigration laws.

Who's "we", kemosabe? The entire Tea Party movement is the result of years, if not decades, of the political class refusing to listen to the people. The Republicans, in fact, have been betraying their voting base for decades. Every time the people have tried to do the responsible thing, the political hacks have gotten in the way. Case in point: in California, Prop 187 passed with a easy majority back in 1996. If you are not familiar with it, it was the proposition that would have made it illegal to provide services for illegal aliens, or allow them to enroll in public school. So what happened to that? You guessed it - some a-hole judge declared it unconstitutional and the governor and AG refused to appeal. The will of the people was tossed aside. Now you are claiming that somehow we should feel guilt that "we" have been hypocritical? We have been nothing of the sort. We have been fighting against the ruling class AND the illegals for DECADES. Maybe now we might actually be able to accomplish something if we can get the treasonous RINOS and Dems out.

Yes, I remember Prop 187 and I worked to have it passed. You couldn't be more correct in your post. The public has demonstrated over and over that they want something done about this situation. It's the elites who are fighting the general public. I know a few of these elites and I can say with certainty that they have nothing but contempt for the general citizen. Sure they will cling that they are men of the people but then they will stab the these same people in the back in a millisecond.

I agree with your points.

But the “we “ you speak of has up to now been a small minority. I also wish I had been more involved, more vocal and more active....Perhaps hypocritical is too harsh if many of us were ignorant ( in the sense that we did not have the media—Fox, internet ) until relatively recently.

so, we are more in agreement than not...and guilt maybe is to be put on the polticians and the employers that created this mess...but I will now take “responsibility” that I have not done before.
