NEW BRUNSWICK A group of Rutgers University students repeatedly interrupted a speech by the school president today as they sought lower tuition for illegal immigrants at New Jersey colleges.
Rutgers President Richard McCormick was forced by students to stop four times during his 32-minute State of the University speech at the student center in New Brunswick.

We also need to call out Mexico for its corrupt socialist system that is causing this problem. They either need to get it together or be conquered. I’ve met too many Indian and Asian students who followed the rules, got the degree, worked a while (legally) and went home to IMPROVE their own homelands, to tolerate this “give it to me free” attitude. And with the economy flailing, many went home when laid off (H1-B rules). They aren’t whining, they’re working to build a future for themselves, their families, and their people.
I am NOT responsible for someone else’s bad behavior. Let’s assign accountability properly here. I’m sure you’ve been socialized into buying into all that bullcrap. Recognize it for what it is: bullcrap.
Yep, I do assign a value judgment in this situation. Don’t buy into their junk. Please don’t consider this a personal attack—I have a knee-jerk response w/respect to scummy manipulators.
No problem. Charge them extra to pay for the illegals.
Great, then I’m sure the Rutgars students will be more than happy to pony up for their tuition. Open an account and give everyone who donates one of those little rubber band armbands. Purple for $100.00, Green for $500.00, and Gold for $1,000.00. Let’s see how many students will be sporting them.
Not only should all immigrants sincerely take the oath of allegiance but they should swear their purpose for citizenship is ‘to create a MORE perfect union’, as opposed to milking the Nation for the ‘new world order’.
The headline is ambiguous and poorly written. I initially thought that conservative students had disrupted a speech by the Rutgers president. It turns out that is was entirely the opposite, which means that there will be no consequences for these students for their actions.
Gee, it’s difficult enough for LEGAL Americans to afford tuition these days, why would anyone give ILLEGALS a break but NOT legal citizens? The world is truly upside down.
I suspect the disruptors are on scholarship.
Yes, another ‘spontaneous’ student protest.
I suggest the University offer to put the difference on their bills.
If any of those students take out a private student loan, they are doing exactly that!! So we found out before we put one through. Zero’s new ownership of the student loans.
The interest rates can go as high as the govt wants when they are paid back, and for a loan say 15,000, a student could end up paying back 100,000. Guess where all that interest goes! Hint, the bank doesn’t get it.
brownie you are absolutely right, it is very tough. But the govt doesn’t want to make it easier. Like everything else, it is about redistribution. They WANT foreign students, and will pay for it on the backs of legal students.
If that were my kid, I would go to that campus, grab him by the scruff of the neck, kick him in the butt, and take him back to class or his room - and explain to him again about some of the realities of life in the United States of America...then I would chide him for being disrespectful, and explain that’s not how you go about changing things you don’t like in this country - so sit down, shut up, and hit the books...or go get a real job!!! but alas, there are no parents that are going to do that in this day and age, now is there??
A parent like the one you describe....doesn’t send his kid to Rutgers.
I agree with your points.
But the “we “ you speak of has up to now been a small minority. I also wish I had been more involved, more vocal and more active....Perhaps hypocritical is too harsh if many of us were ignorant ( in the sense that we did not have the media—Fox, internet ) until relatively recently.
so, we are more in agreement than not...and guilt maybe is to be put on the polticians and the employers that created this mess...but I will now take “responsibility” that I have not done before.
If they lower the tuition for Illegals, doesn’t that mean that the cost will be passed on to these idiots?
Dear Hipster,
It is spelled “Reagan” - thanks for playing.
Leave the heavy lifting to the upper class men.
Bob, they shouldn't even be in the country! You're getting soft, man!
