How can GM a Corp owned by the Government (taxpayers). Make contributions to POLITICAL candidates for FEDERAL OFFICE?

Someone that has a better Law on point pls post.

Legal detail that the rats are hanging their hats on:

The government did not create the corporation, it bought shares in the corporation. And under the law you cited, there is no prohibition on making blatant political expenditures.

Of course, if it had been Bush who rammed through a federal “purchase” of controlling stock in a bankrupt Haliburton (with a sweetheart deal for some other Bush ally to also get control of a huge chunk of shares - similar to Obama giving the UAW big chunks of GM), and Haliburton then made campaign contributions to any GOP politician, Bush would have been impeached.

I assume that GM is not making the contributions, but rather, the individuals who work for GM.
