TAMPA, Fla.Herman Cain is thinking about running for president, even though its likely youve never heard of him.
And thats OK at least right now for the black Republican who has become a sought after speaker on the Tea Party circuit. The former CEO of Godfathers Pizza says hes going to build a grassroots coalition of supporters from the bottom up, if he decides to run, and if the Tea Party movement in 2010 is any indication, Republicans wont be looking to nominate a household name for president in 2012.
Theyre ready for a non-establishment candidate, Cain, casually dressed in a blue shirt and slacks, said here in Florida during an interview Thursday after addressing an enthusiastic crowd at a Spending Revolt rally. I will run proudly as a non-establishment candidate. I think the public has an appetite for a non-establishment candidate.
Though he may not be well-known on the national stage, the stage 4 cancer survivor and chairman of the Hermanator PAC is a star among the conservative grassroots. Activists who showed up to the Americans for Prosperitys Spending Revolt bus tour this week didnt hide their admiration.
Hes a beautiful package, said Bob Prescott, a Jacksonville man selling campaign buttons, while Cain addressed an audience in Tampa. Prescott said hes heard the Tea Party star speak multiple times and would support a Cain bid in 2012.

Herman Cain - 2012! Run, Herman, Run!
Ping
He would make a great Treasury Secretary.
I hear you.
I listen to his radio show. He's very personable, down to earth, and actually has some really good ideas.
So long as his health holds out, I think he'd be a good president.
I’ve heard him speak a number of times. He’s a smart guy as well as an adult. Works for me. We need to get the kids out of Washington.
What kind of cancer did he have? Stage 4, Wow. God Bless Him!!!
I agree!
It does not appear to be easy to be a black conservative, imho.
Would Cain get the black vote? Not against Obama.
I have heard him speak at a TP rally and liked what I heard. There are only 2 kinds of black conservatives, one is the Colon Powell “conservative” and the 2nd is non-Colon Powell type. He’s in the 2nd group.
He subs for Boortz a lot. It's kind of like whenever Dr Walter E Williams subs for the Godfather in that those are days I really look forward to listening.
I’d vote for him!
I voted for him for Senator.
A presidential debate between Cain and Obama would be well worth the price of admission.
He’s got my vote.
Herman Cain has a nightly 3 hour talk show on WSB 750/95.5 in Atlanta. He says that he is prayerfully considering a presidential run.
He is very conservative.
Detroit hasn’t taught you guys anything?
He is a good man and loaded with everyday common sense which as we all know is not so common these days.He has my vote hands down.
