Just for the record... no, chinooks can NOT do water landings. The one in that pic is still flying, just with his butt in the water. :-)
Even the venerable H-52 "flying lifeboat" used by the CG for many years, with the boat-shape bottom... wasn't actually supposed to land on the water. Especially saltwater. Lots of stuff had to be replaced if they ever did that.
