This comes from a Vegas paper, so I'll summarize:
Day 1 of the inquest into the police shooting of Eric Scott at a Las Vegas Costco emphasized the large amount of prescription painkillers found in his body. The assistant DA suggested Scott was suicidal.
Day 2 apparently spent a bunch of time explaining why there will be no video...basically, the machines weren't working, sorry.
Then the cop who was closest to Scott testified. In his testimony, he says the gun found by investigators was in its holster, and that he didn't realize the gun was in its holster when he shot Scott. That info comes about 2/3 of the way into the article:

Lets get this straight. I made a comment on what I heard a witness say. You rudely corrected me and told me to PAY ATTENTION. Then, you bragged about your MOS and your awesome observational skills.
You need to work on your observation skills.
Dont let trying to prove me wrong consume your entire day do something productive and dont give it a second thought because Im sure the hell not..
It is quite obvious that you dont care about the truth. Speaking of internet badasses
.take a look in the mirror.
I shoot Kimbers and have a couple of those same holsters.
The gun is laying right side up.
The strong safety is on the left side, so the left thumb is employed in its release.
You cannot shoot from this holster. Pretty obvious to see the trigger is obstructed by the holster.
You need a full grip to engage the secondary safety, which is compressed when the gun is held correctly.
Pretty hard to accomplish when you cannot get your hand on the trigger due to the holster obstructing access, as it should, for safety reasons.
Also, the gun is not cocked. The hammer is completely flush with the frame.
Looks like you would have to draw, chamber a round by pulling the slide back, which then cocks the hammer, take the primary strong safety off and grip the gun prepared to shoot so as to release the secondary safety.
Can’t be done while holstered.
“Colleen Kullberg took the stand late Wednesday and said she saw Scott as he was confronted by police outside the store. She says she saw Scott pull his gun from his waistband and aim it at officers before being shot.”
The Stay-Puft DonutRoidRageBoy Mosher is going to poop his little pants when he starts getting asked REAL questions.
There. Fixed it for ya.
There were numerous witnesses who backed up Kullberg’s account. In fact, the majority of the witnesses who are quoted in the Las Vegas Sun’s coverage, dispute the premise from which are you presumptively proceeding. You want to discount all of these witnesses because they conflict with your agenda. Let me guess “OH NOEZ!!! ITZ A CONSPIWACY!!!!”
Youse & Officer "DonutRoidRageBoy" Mosher keep whistling past Federal Court.
All the Metro thugs had to do was have a fairly objective inquest, but it's quite apparent that something like that would have gotten the GUILTY! GUILTY! GUILTY! for their three paramilitary perps.
It looks like the end for the LV inquest system, and now the real fun starts in Federal court. I can't wait to hear the charges Goodman is going to file.
I want to see conspiracy charges for the thug LV prosecutors, who burned taxpayer money in bales to try to "get" a man they'd already murdered.
Bill Scott and his family are going to pay out the deserving in the coin that they've earned.
Your powers of clairvoyance are amazing. Can you tell me what tomorrow’s lottery number will be as well?
Scott family attorney Ross Goodman: "The real proceeding is going to be in federal court when we file a civil rights action against Metro and against Costco."
Some of the schlubs who "testified" for the Metro dog-and-pony show are going to regret getting conned into opening their mouths on record for the thug Metro DAs.
Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law
Metro gave the opposing team their ENTIRE playbook.
Ooooooooh, baby!
lolumad?
I’ll be buying a case of popcorn for the entertainment. The Las Vegas taxpayers are going to be buying a “pig in a poke”, as it were...
The no-show witnesses, especially the girlfriend, are a HUGE tell.
We older Freepers got to watch the "legal" system in action under the Clintons. There's a reason why Hillary! "failed to recall" so many times under oath.
Goodman's witnesses are an unknown quantity to the Metro ass DAs, whereas Goodman has got weeks or months to study the Metro-friendly witness testimony in black & white. Oops.
Only on the internet can an online "born on" date matter!
lolumad?
And what will you do if your clairvoyance is wrong? (As it is likely to be?)
What’s really sad is that Metro is willing to smear the hundreds of good officers who work for them to go to the mats for the likes of Brian Yant and William “DonutRoidRageBoy” Mosher...
Looking at him, one wonders how many more Scotts lie [dead on a sidewalk] in his future.
Sometimes doing the world a favor skirts too close to vengeance, which belongs solely to the Almighty. But I'd want to shoot the butterball, too, if it was my loved one on the sidewalk. Guys like that have no business being cops.
Bottom line of the bigger issue in this Costco incident, in my humble opinion:
Power-trip cops (as opposed to good cops who resist the "us vs. them" mentality) are throwing down the gauntlet that they're the keepers and bearers of the arms, not us. They're doing it for us because we'd be too apt to be in our homes "waving guns around." We are unqualified.
Huh?
What did I post that brought this on?
I "fancy" myself no such thing.
Perhaps I misunderstood.
