Explaining the New Democratic Logo
By Jonathan Witt on 9.21.10 @ 6:07AM
The new Democratic logo is so bad that the intellectual rot in the official announcement went largely unnoticed. Consider the fifth and sixth paragraphs:
I'm sure you'll also notice our new look. Some may think: it's just a logo -- it's just a brand. Well I don't believe the Democratic Party is a logo or a brand -- we are much more than that. We are Democrats. We create change that matters. Ours is a party of ideas and ideals, of policies and people, history and purpose.
So call it what you will -- this new identity for our party captures the spirit that unites us all. Democrats -- all of us -- are working for the change that matters.
To grasp how deeply the rot extends here, imagine you have a ne'er-do-well nephew who has come to live with you and has just run up a bill on your credit card, a bill so large that your children's children's children might eventually be able to pay it off if they all become celebrated brain surgeons with a penchant for thrifty monastic life. The reality of your financial situation is just sinking in when your nephew calls you at work and says he has a big announcement for you when you get home.

Well, it seems to me that the genius designers who put their collective heads together to come up with this brilliant and progressive "D" suspected people would think, "You gotta be kidding me."
The picture of the interior of a toilet as inspiration is already internet viral.
The "D" stands for "duh".
I popped over to DU when this thing first hit - huge majority of them hate it, made fun of it or rolled their keyboard eyes...I just hope the RNC doesn’t pull the same lame brain minimalist/inclusive/push button crap.
Here's the abominable thing. Looks like they're crowing about their former F grade rising to a D.
The “D” is for Down. The circle is a pipe straight on.
Down the tubes.
There’s no need for that; the traditional elephants ought to do just fine, along with a “Miss us yet?”
Is that suppose to replace the jackass? Is that what they mean by replacing their logo? Did you notice the same pukey shade of blue is used in the UN logo? A marriage made in hell.
Note the incorporation of the giant “O”. Got to be more than coincidence. Make way for the Cult of Personality - that’s all they have left.
Reminds me of the comment from one of the cops at Kent State to one of the hippies wearing a t-shirt with a peace symbol. “Hey son - that makes a nice target”. The book Michner’s) went on to claim that the same student was seen shortly after wearing a different shirt!
D = Destroy
Didn’t think of that, but you’re right.
I see the seat. Where’s the handle?
The best description I’ve read yet.
You’re onto something.
Obama’s D
Looks like the bulls-eye the Tea Party will be using in November.
They got a new Chairman of the local Democrat party the other day so the newspaper interviewed him. He said the American people have see what a mess the Republicans got us into and they don’t like it. I thought he has got to be kidding! In our governors race here, the Republican is polling 20 pts ahead of the democrat. All over the country democrats are losing in the polls. Even the democrats themselves are saying they are going to get trounced big time and this idiot is still trying to spin it. LOL
