I understand that...I was referencing his belief that many of the sign-ups over the past few years at FR don’t seem to be interested in advancing the conservative agenda...I agree with him.

I told jveritas when I was trying to convince him to change his mind, that I originally supported Duncan Hunter.

I saw DH as the single, best hope to turn our nation around.

Unfortunately the very same GOP establishment we see now, would have nothing of his candidacy. Too vested in sending American jobs to the Chicoms. Too vested in illegal immigration. And Duncan Hunter just didn’t have enough charisma to overcome their cold shoulder.

Then along came Sarah Palin.

Equally conservative by some considerations. But she has that power of personal persuasion. That magnetic draw which inspires people. That’s why Palin and those like her are so important. Because they represent WINNING.

Winning not by compromising with liberals. Winning by appealing to voters with conservative ideas presented in such a way people adopt them as their own.

Reagan had that ability.

Duncan Hunter is spot on, but Sarah Palin can win. And doing so, she presents a platform for people like Duncan Hunter. Who I hope she would bring on board as SecDef, or perhaps Trade Representative.

jv for some reason may have some sort of problem with Palin. I probably shouldn’t have admitted to being an enthusiastic Palinisto from even before the convention. In fact that was when he stopped answering me.

I strongly disagree that increasing support for Palin and the Tea Party indicates any sort of loss of conservative ideas on FR. Exactly the opposite IMHO. Libertarianism is becoming more mainstream here, which I see as a good thing (just to be forthcoming)

But Palin is doing a lot to advance the conservative agenda. As can O’Donnell - simply by being out there, standing tall and fighting back. And everyone else out there winning elections right now for our side - who is not part of the sell-out RINO centrist blob is helping our side.

I don’t think FR is becoming less conservative.

I think FR is becoming more grassroots. More Tea Party.

And a lot more close to clobbering the left at the ballot box.
