Sen. Jim DeMint stirred up the crowd at this morning's Values Voters Summit in Washington, but Rep. Mike Pence blew him out of the water an hour later.

He would be a better speaker of the house than Mr. Tan Man.
I completely agree.
You're out of your mind.
Pence is a former talk radio host who does talk a good game.
But it seems to me that his primary concern is for his own political career and maximizing his camera time.
Time for a change. It is not possible to be in office for very long and not be contaminated.
!0 years is about it. At best. Unfortunately. Too much power, too much pressure to fall into line, too many times BEING told ... WE MAKE THE RULES, WE ARE THE RULING ELITE!

Opinions are like a$$holes.....
I’m hearing of lot of those allegations towards conservatives on this board lately. Assigning their motives to self interest rather then principle. Healthy scepticism of every politician is a good thing but dismissing completely the ones mostly acting on the right side is taking it too far.
I can call up at least one problem with every politician. In Pence’s case I still remember is efforts to find “common ground” during the amnesty debate. That issue wouldn’t make him my first choice but they’ve all got flaws. As long as he isn’t currently peddling that compromise at the moment he seems to be behaving soundly and should just be left to be. If he likes the cameras, who the hell cares. As long as says and does the right things I don’t.
I’ve noticed after a short time incumbents start making strange noises. They start sounding elitist and entitled, and often move towards “making deals” with principles.
The ones who don’t lose it usually term limit themselves and get out of there asap.
The way I see it, people should serve only one to two terms, minimum, and get no compensation at all. Especially they shouldn’t get the DC Perk system - health care, pension, etc.
People should serve for the honor of serving. And then get the H out of there, before they develop an entitlement culture.
Pence is by far the most fiscal conservative candidate we could have for POTUS...he is by far the most socially conservative candidate we could have for POTUS...and no one is Washington is stronger on National defense.
When it comes to the big three of fiscal, social and defense no one in elected or formerly elected national politics can claim to have more credentials than Pence.
Is there some particular issue or vote that you can point us to?
No video???? Pence is so dignified and statesman like. He exudes power, professioinalism and commands attention and respect. His character shines through. Nice. Really nice to see someone so dignifed and so intelligent with common sense and dignity.
Pence is a good man.....let it go at that for now....many on this thread are letting the MEDIA tell you what to do and think.....research the man if you have not.
Why is everyone saying Bohener will be the next speaker? Why? Pence would be absolutely incredible in that role. I’m not personally thrilled with Bohener.
What smarmy coverage by Nicole Allen of the Atlantic: arrogant and nasty.
She gives her own parenthetical misinterpretation of what Pence said, and then at the end notes that she had no tapes or transcripts of his words to document her reporting. This is a reporter for a national magazine! Pitiful!
how many have???????
What is that?
I have for instance served on certain government boards... and what I noticed was that after a few years you make friends with the other people, and you get tired of being the lone “no” vote on most things. It makes you feel bad, because most people naturally want to get along with others. It is at exactly that point, that a smart person will get out and let someone new and fresh take over the battle.
I don't have a problem with Mike Pence on either issues or votes.
I just think he's more of a talker than a real leader.
The House is a good place for him.
I was denigrating the revival of the Pence for President silliness that Gipper is promoting.
I have no problem with Pence doing his thing in the House. Really, he should have run for Senate this year but declined and endorsed Dan Coats over more conservative options.
