“Ummm some guys might disagree with you when it comes to the Ranger tab! :)”

While I hold the U.S. Army Rangers in the highest regard, and readily acknowledge that the “tab” is not easy to get. It still isn’t an award for valor....it is another, on a higher order, Hooah! badge.

Besides, this general disgraces all that wear the tab to say such things. I remember how embarassing it was for the Army circa 2005 when many soldiers from the 82nd Airborne were caught posing for homosexual mags. For awhile the joke was to call the 82nd the “Brokeback” division. How could things go downhill so fast that what was shameful a few years ago is being promoted by a flag rank officer.

I guess this “general” is for having a new tab for “Rump Rangers.”

Here's my take on this REMF.
This guy is a Wext Point ringknocker. He was groomed and trained to be a staff monkey. Decoration...nothing more. He carries on in that tradition today with this pronouncement.
Re:His RANGER and Airborne tabs - easily explained:
During his summers at West Point troops join the "real Army" for sh!ts and giggles. They come in at E-5 pay and take some Army courses to get "valuable enlisted perspective and experience" during their non-academic off time.
One summer, usually between sophomore & junior year they go to Airborne school and get their jump wings.
Next summer, depending on their motivation, they go down to Georgia and try to "do" RANGER school.

I've seen it quite a few times. My money says thats what this puke did. Look at his duty resume'...no service with Infantry or Airborne Units.
My money also says he received his "Combat Action Badge".NOT CIB, at the O Club while in the rear with the gear in Kuwait. Make him look at 'butch' when he moved over to the Engineer Supply Hdqtrs in Iraq. Although I also am willing to bet his time in Iraq could be measured in hours rather than days or months.

Anyway, thats how I read between the lines of this military resume'.

Yeah, I gotcha. I was being tongue in cheek. :) And you’re right, my husband will even say that it’s a hooah badge. This is a disgrace...I sent this article to my husband and he said, I’m glad I’m retired. I remember that incident at Bragg and the 82nd. Hubby was in the 82nd at that point. He still bitches about the 82nd and how screwed up it is. Things like this aren’t going to help matters either because of exactly what you said, it’s being promoted by a general and therefore, the rank and file will have to implement it. The military is not the place for social engineering. Has the Army really thought about how this is going to affect discipline issues, housing issues, pay issues, benefits, etc? Nope!!
