Turkey: Islamism's Consequences for the West
Hudson New York ^ | September 15, 2010 | Steven Simpson

The "good times" between Turkey and the West seem to be over. As the Erdogan years in Turkey have attempted to turn Turkey from a once-secular country into a de facto Islamist country, the West and Turkey seem to be on a collision course, or at best, an impasse.

The questions now to ask include: What to do about an Erdogan-ruled Turkey that appears intent on reshaping the Middle East in its own Islamist and nationalist image and agenda; the response of America and the West (particularly NATO) if Turkey breaks diplomatic relations with Israel; and what how to adjust the US-Turkish relationship in light of Turkey's friendly relationships with the dictatorships of Iran and Sudan.

A good analysis of the current situation in Turkey, as well as a good historical piece on how Turkey is where it is now. There is no doubt that if Turkey goes Islamic, it will make the Iranian revolution look like a high school protest. Can't understand how the EU is even thinking of letting these guys in. It's like inviting a bear into a cave and trying to have dinner with him. Only we are the dinner.

Why doesn’t out “Muslim heritage” POTUS lecture Muslims on tolerance?

Allow Christian churches. Or even for leftist positions — where are the feminists and gay rights people marching on Mosques?

I agree completely. The feminists and homosexuals are nowhere to be seen or heard from. The same with the liberal Jews. Don’t these people realize that they will be the first to suffer at the hands of the head cutters?

As for the so-called POTUS. He’ll probably be inaugurating the mosque at GZ.

What to do about an Erdogan-ruled Turkey that appears intent on reshaping the Middle East in its own Islamist and nationalist image and agenda;

Create friction or a regional power struggle between Turkey and Iran causing them to war between themselves. That should keep them busy killing each other for eight years or so.
