GOP nightmare: O'Donnell topples Castle in Delaware primary

The path to a Republican Senate takeover narrowed to the point of vanishing Tuesday night, as marketing consultant Christine O’Donnell upset Rep. Mike Castle in Delaware’s Senate primary and likely dashed the GOP’s hopes of capturing the seat in the process.

Though six other states and the District of Columbia voted in primary elections Tuesday night, the outcome in Delaware had by far the most profound implications for the fall campaign. While Castle was comfortably on track to capture Vice President Joe Biden’s former Senate seat, O’Donnell will enter the general election at a wide disadvantage to the presumptive Democratic nominee, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons.

Other leading Republicans openly lamented O’Donnell’s win. Karl Rove, appearing on Fox News, immediately declared: “We were looking at eight to nine seats in the Senate. We’re now looking at seven to eight. This is not a race we’re going to be able to win.”

Castle ain’t voting with pursued 65%of the time. He is not a RINO. He’s a liberal. Not the same as a Scott Brown.

The GOP Establishment wants a RINO majority, not a conservative majority.

That is the bottom line of their statement this evening. What they're really working for is a democrat majority.

The logic is simple: send the message loud and clear we are willing to stand for principle. The men that signed the Declaration were not telling King George that they would accept a soft (47%) monarchy. They went all-in for freedom or nothing.

Electing RINOS instead of running conservatives sends the message we will remain like the frogs in the pot - slowly heating towards a socialist boil.

Putting up a conservative over the RINO, overruling the establishment choice, sends a loud message to the GOP, the other RINOS and the Blue Dog Democrats. That message may change more votes than the one we lose if O'Donnell loses in Nov.

One of the most remarkable dumbass moments of modern politics. A wonder to behold.

If you think this was a sight to behold, wait until the next Primary Election Cycle.

We’re gonna take out some more RINO’s. And Then a few more and Then a few more.
Brace yourself.

California is BANKRUPT. The Democrats did it. They are a dead state walking. It would have bean better if a solid liberal pushed it into full BK years ago. As it is Arnold has been just conservative enough to keep it on life support. The quicker they default and break the unions and their ridiculous pensions and benefit system the better. The better for the state, it’s citizens and the California Republican Party that would have a chance to pick up the pieces and start with a clean slate.

I’m a definite ‘right of center’ Republican. At this point, O’Donnel is my choice for that seat for sure.

I kinda wanted her to win, just to show the GOP that this isn’t a joke. Actually, I really wanted that.

I just hope we can win in the finals, that’s what counts. She’s got a lot of baggage, so we’ll see if she can address and overcome it. I sure as hell hope so!

Politico, the Democrat house organ, is hoping to breathe new life into the Dem chances in Nov. by calling GOP’s takeover finished in the Senate. There are several other races that can be won to take the majority, and it will be great to see them spinning their defeat on Nov. 3.

If it’s seven to eight this election, we’ll clear out the rest of you guys in 2012 and succeeding years. Buh bye.

Got that right.

Hey Karl, Say Goodbye to the “Rainbow Coalition” GOP Party Machine You and Bush Built. It’s crumbling.

Steele doesn't run the Senate campaign committee, He runs the RNC. Cornyn runs the NRSC. He has stated they will not help O'Donnell.

Besides, she may not need the help DE is a very small state. The population is half that of the County that I live in. The Tea Party got her a LANDSLIDE victory with less than $250K and a couple of mailers.

If she can raise a couple million, Which she should be able to do and work with the TPE. She will have more than enough $ t go the distance.

...watch Dick Durbin leading the Senate to easy confirmations of a sixth liberal Supreme Court justice...

Didn't we just watch an easy confirmation of a liberal Supreme Court justice with RINOS voting exactly as a Dem would? I guess the difference was we were given a small amount of hope that there would be a stand with the saber rattling. But in the end, the RINOS went rank and file Dem.

It was stupid to primary Castle. Utah, Alaska, Arizona, go for it, even with a lousy candidate. If in a Blue State, go for if the insurgent candidate is attractive. But Blue State, weak candidate? That is just idiocy.

Sparky, I’m friend with Tom. My family has known Tom for several decades from the Thousand Oaks area. We love Tom. Sorry, Tom had no chance to win the Governorship.

If he won’t vote to repeal Obamacare he might as well loses. He ain’t no Conservative.

I’m relieved that the Republican senate campaign committee will not be wasted their money on this RINO.

We were never going to take over the Senate...and we don’t have to. If we capture the House and have enough in the Senate to sustain a filibuster, we win.
