Full statement by John Cornyn, head of the NRSC:
“Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee – and I personally as the committee's chairman – strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O'Donnell in Delaware.
“I reached out to Christine this morning, and as I have conveyed to all of our nominees, I offered her my personal congratulations and let her know that she has our support. This support includes a check for $42,000 – the maximum allowable donation that we have provided to all of our nominees – which the NRSC will send to her campaign today.
“We remain committed to holding Democrat nominee New Castle County Executive Chris Coons accountable this November, as we inform voters about his record of driving his county to the brink of bankruptcy and supporting his party's reckless spending policies in Washington.
“In the weeks ahead, we will decide where to best allocate additional financial resources among the large number of competitive races at stake this November. While it's not in Republicans' interest to advertise our spending strategy to our opponents, it's worth noting that just yesterday, the NRSC's first independent expenditure ad aired in support of Dr. Rand Paul's campaign in Kentucky, where we firmly believe that he will win in November.
“It remains to be seen whether national Democrats will provide a similar level of support for many of their nominees, including in key battleground states like Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, and New Hampshire, among others. The Democrats' indecision reflects the fact that Republicans are on offense in at least 12 Democrat-held states and we are leading in the polls in seven of those 12 states.
“Finally, on the matter of the New Hampshire Senate race, while the results remain outstanding, we continue to monitor the Republican primary race, and we stand ready to fully support whichever candidate is chosen as the nominee.”
If the GOP is turning against us in the general elections, they will regret it.
This could spell the end of the GOP.
That’s it for me. Not another dime to those jackmunches in the RNC.
Then its time for the people to show the NRSC how worthless they are and that we can crush them next.
Well what does that tell us about the “Ruling Class” Republicans?
We need a SECOND one.
But giving money to Crist, Specter, Scuzzyfavor, Chaffee, Snow, Collins, et al is ok....
REVOLT! No money whatsoever to the repubs until they reverse this. Start with local candidates too. THey will complain up the chain with more of a voice than we will have.
TEA Party should sacrifice McCain as a tit-for-tat IF it can be determined that GOP will still have a majority in the Senate. This can be done by an independent running in AZ if the deadlines are not up. If they are, the vote can go to someone else on the ballot.
You beat me by 30 seconds.
I wanted to scream when I heard this.
THAT’S IT! I CALL FOR AN ENTIRE RINO PURGE FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!!!!!! WHO’S WITH ME????
Don’t donate to the party - donate directly to the candidate.
I think tonights results should put to bed the lie that Castle was more “electable”. How could someone whose loses the primary by such a large margin be more “electable” than the winner?
If true, not unexpected. The establishment Republicans are being forced into a situation where they have to choose: remain the stealth enemies of conservatism, and the people, or come right out and declare themselves as such. They can no longer hide.
This may hurt in the short run (although I don’t think it will), but as part of the longer war it is necessary. Sides are being chosen, and the tsunami is on our side, not theirs.
Hell hath no fury like a RINO scorned.
So they will support the Democrat, I guess they want to lose.
I’d be more upset about this if I’d have some of my own money involved. I quit supporting the RNC and the NRSC some time ago. I only support individual candidates.
What a bunch of sore-loser crybabies.
Things are different now — the more you push against the will of the people, the harder we’ll push back.
On the plus side, the NRSC won’t waste $3 million on Mike Castle’s campaign in November.
Not only no money, but no volunteer time either.
I no longer belong to the GOP if there is a choice between Tea Party and GOP in an election.
I don’t think anyone who’s paying attention should be surprised by this.
Although I think the acronym is extremely overused here, they are pretty much a merry band of RINOs.
I was tempted to use a vulgar term for a certain sphincter muscle, but I don’t want the mods to scold me. LOL.
