I think the polls understated the Tea Party strength when they defined "likely voters" as "those who said the would turnout to vote AND who voted in 2008".

In November, there will be the kind of distortion working doubly against the Dems, all of whom voted in 2008, but many of whom will be staying home in 2010 (while the energized Republicans, many of which did not show up in 2008, will be back with bells and whistles).
