Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

Nope. O’Donnell wasn’t just talking about people filming her campaign events. She claimed that Castle “operatives” broke into her home, and that Castle had people stalking her. She’s a nutbag.

Donna, who are you to lecture people on conservatism and this site?

I'm a conservative who knows about trial lawyers who keep the ruling class politicians in their pockets.

I'm a conservative who knows that there are two kinds of Feminists: those who kill the unborn and those who don't. Both kinds destroy families and thus the country.

Your "gender" lawsuits are just one weapon these destroyers of America use to achieve their socialist goals.

She's a shallow fraud. Ever watch her on Fox News? Dumber than a box of rocks. This is correct.

You know who is even dumber?

Somebody who is pro abortion, pro TARP, pro Cap and Trade, anti surge in Iraq...

She’s not a good conservative. She’s a hustler. Her actions in her personal life and quest for money don’t match her words. Castle sux, too.

Out of all the people in DE, these two are the best the pubs could muster?

That sux the most of all.

Don’t tell me what to focus on.

Maybe you shouldn’t vote for her then.

DeMint, Palin, Rush, Mark Levin, the Tea Party Express....all nutbags.

Castle has been in Congress his whole adult life. Where are the stories about hin and money?

Really? She sued somebody? That somehow disqualifies you?

Go Christine!

Coons can’t beat Castle. Coons WILL beat O’Donnell.

You don't know that. Voters in what you call "liberal cesspools" rarely have a conservative choice. They usually have to choose between liberal Republicans and liberal Democrats.

Let's see what happens. I predict O'Donnell will win the primary on Tuesday, and that she will win in November.

>>>?I wouldn’t vote for her not matter what she says.<<< Then you deserve the POS you seek!

It appears you've missed the point: since she is a POS, it makes much of a difference. I just cannot trust what a person of weak character says. She may sound like a conservative, but she does not appear to behave as one. It's all about her, it seems.

P.S. You should try to be a bit more logical. If I decline one alternative it does not meant that I seek the other: I may merely accept it, and do so with and without reservations. I may abstain altogether. Strong statements such as yours are usually too over-reaching to be correct.

Do you know how many logical fallacies you just committed? Congrats, that must be a new record for such a short post.

If what she alleged was really true, why’d she drop the suit?

Don’t you know anything about the damage civil suits have done to America?

Yes, but how does a place become that way. Why is the people who live there predominately liberal.

Could it be that they never hear the conservative message present to them, that all they hear all day are the liberal position of the democrat and the liberal lite position of the republican and that’s all they know?

At some point, the only way we can win is to change places filled with liberals with places filled with conservatives, and that’s never going to happen if the conservative message is never presented there.

This is not the general election, in a general election I would hold my nose and vote for Castle over the Dem. In a primary my goal is to get the person most able to articulate the conservative message to be the representative for the Republican party. Castle cannot articulate the conservative message because he is not a conservative.

Who do you like in these races?

Hawaii - Cam Cavasso? John Roco?
Maryland - Eric Wargotz?
NH - Ayotte? Ovide Lamontagne?
NY race 1 - Joe DioGuardi?
NY race 2 - Jay Townsend? Gary Berntsen?

100% of the conservatives are lined up behind Christine.

Only the worst RINOs are backing Castle.

It’s not like there aren’t other races for you to focus on.
Talk about which of those candidates in those other states are electable.

Free Republic is a Conservative site. You’re just tearing down a Conservative.

Go help with Hawaii, Maryland, New Hampshire or either New York race.

All of the top endorsements have been for Christine. Every one Christine could hope for.

This ISI thing isn’t going anywhere, because it’s old news.

It was discussed on the PBS website in 2008

A-LIST ENDORSEMENTS should have waived-off Kristol and his eleventh hour smear machine, so I am left to ponder precisely what’s his interest?

A Senate majority in number only and to hell with how the Senator votes?

If so, that’s Beltway thinking and it’s those damn renegade votes by Northeasterners (primarily), that infuriates the hell out of us!

Castle of all the gawddamned Republicans. Gene Taylor, democrat of Mississippi, has a better ACU rating (66.+) than Castle, for crying out loud.

Because it’s expensive to keep a lawsuit going. Dropping a lawsuit does not mean the allegations were false, any more than settling a lawsuit mean the allegations were true.

In civil actions a lot of decisions are made for financial considerations.

Is that like a "True Scotsman?"

It’s not like there aren’t other races for you to focus on. Talk about which of those candidates in those other states are electable.

So you DO want to silence dissent?

Free Republic is a Conservative site. You’re just tearing down a Conservative.

I know FR is a Conservative site. That's why I post here. I'm not "tearing down a Conservative." I'm pointing out why O'Donnell shouldn't be trusted, and that handing a seat to the Democrats is not a wise move.

Go help with Hawaii, Maryland, New Hampshire or either New York race.

So do "real Conservatives" (TM) attempt to silence all dissent and systematically remove people who might have a differing opinion? I thought only liberals did that.
