Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

Every Democrat and established Republican type like Castle has the same, and perhaps less, credibility with me than Bernie Madoff.

So unless they come up with O’Donnell doing something as shady or worse than Bernie Madoff, I will stick take her over Castle.

This isn’t about whether O’Donnell may or may not have a checkered past. This is about how all these establishment types are proven ponzi scheme operators and liars. I think the continuing publishing of these stories just proves that the GOP establishments complete lack of understanding of how much they are despised.

They are delusion if they think these types of stories is going to change the mind of the O’Donnell support. Here is the answer they need to understand. We get it, we know O’Donnell has some issues, but we hate you more, much more, and it’s time you looked at yourself in the mirror and figure out why your own party rank and file hate you so much. Instead of attacking O’Donnell, fix that problem.

“I definitely felt that there was gender discrimination.”

Gloria Steinem couldn’t have said it better, especially if she was referring to a conservative organization.

This particular lawsuit is sickening coming from a so-called conservative.

So a conservative female working for a conservative organization is supposed to sit back and say “okay” when that organization discriminates against women in favor of men? Is that your “conservative” view — men and women are not equal?

Why should any one refrain from filing a suit against a "conservative" outfit if they resorted to discrimination based on gender, race etc?

If Christine O"Donnell has not broken any laws,
and has done nothing immoral
and has done nothing tresonous
Then she is eminently eligible to run for office.

Oh, and then after the O’Donnell interview he goes on who? The very fine and fair...CHRIS MATTHEWS!!!

I got every one of those email folks, even the ones where I begged him to stop emailing me.

Maybe I ought to have an email exchange with Mark Levin.

If all this is true, she is probably so fundamentally flawed as a candidate that there is no way she can win a general.

As if running as a conservative in DE wasn't challenging enough. Hate to say it, but O'Donnell appears to be a no-go.

“not ready for primetime” did the founding fathers make that a requirement for public service?

To respond directly, I’ll say that if you are inspired by an unspoken agenda to dredge up two statements made by an individual and show them to be contradictory, you would make a great trial lawyer.

But the last thing I’d do is listen to you for political advice.

I'd rather we replace them with ditch-diggers, janitors, and waitresses. The elites self-annointed elitists haven't done a good job.

I agree.

Gaffney's scary. He interviewed me once. Although that was small potatoes.

You're from Deleware so perhaps you can answer these questions.

Has Gaffney interviewed Castle this election cycle? If so, did Gaffney ask him about Castle's liberal voting record? If Gaffney hasn't interviewed Castle, I wonder why not?

Also, has Gaffney covered in full detail Castle's voting record?

So, her Lawyers jacked up the claim amounts, knowing full well they will get a HUGE cut of the eventually settled upon lesser amount (should they even win) and we are to believe that she wanted and expected to get all of this for herself? Bah..

$6.9M is PEANUTS compared to the $700 BILLION TARP, 1.5+TRILLION Obamacare (that Castle will not repeal), $10Trillion/Year cost of Cap-n-Tax etc etc that Castle will support.

This is Chistines’ BB to a Castles’ Battleship against your wallet. Its time to decide how much Castle you can afford!

O’Donnell is a clown, and is a guaranteed loss in November. I don’t like Castle at all. In any other State, I’d be glad to dump him. However, we are talking about Delaware. Delaware is a stinking cesspool of liberalism. Castle is about as good as we can expect from there. I wanted to give O’Donnell a chance, but hearing about stuff like this, coupled with the lies she has been caught in, and the downright dirty campaigning that she has done, convinced me that she’s a no go.

Why support a Republican like Castle who only votes 28% of time for Republican issues. You might as well vote for Blue Dog Democrat who votes more often with Republicans than Castle.

They are NOT equal. Just go to Family Court and observe.
