Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

Remember, the less you know and understand Christine O’Donnell and other tea party candidates, the better it will be for the Ruling Class.

To the Ruling Class: I dare you try and stop me from helping to end your power.

“kind of reminds me of when they released those DWI stories about Bush 2 days before the election...”

Me, too. Anyone who does this is scum, filth, a true Democrat.

Can someone answer me why the “pragmatists” keep supporting people who will inevitably stab them in the back during crunch time? I’m not saying of course that all candidates have to live in the realm of purity but is there any reason to believe that Castle isn’t going to defect on major issues?

This isn’t news at all. Back in March, it was called “well-known” by Delaware Liberal.

That is a WONDERFUL piece by Mark.

You think these hyenas with Christine O’Donnell derangement syndrome (heh, this is a good one put in by Mark in this very piece) would settle down and get a little circumspect like Mark did in this piece.

But they’re too busy picking fleas and hooting and hollering. all symptoms of Christine O’Donnell derangement syndrome.

But seriously folks, with all this baggage...and like Mark Levin says...this stuff WAS all known before...dag, I knew it...but suddenly it’s a big deal?...with all this baggage damn, you’d think COD might be crazy enough to vote for Cap and Tax or that awful DISCLOSE bill.

....NO WAIT!

Good thing she’s a true conservative, cause it would be too easy to distribute my support based on a comparison of the photos.

Exactly right. Her excuses simply are not credible, and it is wrong for people to defend them. Getting into financial trouble happens...she should just admit she fell into some trouble and worked to overcome it rather than adding all of the additional excuses to it...we all face trials and make mistakes.

There is absolutely no way if this exact same scenario were discovered about Barack Obama with the same sort of explanations made that these same people would be defending it that are on this thread. Everyone keeps coming back to Mike Castle who has nothing to do with her behavior as it relates to this article or the other issues you have mentioned. Finding this behavior inappropriate on the part of O’Donnell has nothing to do with either supporting or opposing Mike Castle.

We aren’t learning anything new now.

This has all been discussed before.

It’s the RINOs in the media and here on FR who want cap & trade and big governement socialism who are trying to tear down Christine with olds.

I would also point out that Mark Levin not only points out that there might have been a legitimate discriminatory complaint, HORRORS, but that O’Donnell worked for two other conservative think tanks who went on to endorse her with their political PACS so it’s not like she sued everyone she worked with.

But why let the truth get in the way?

CHRISTINE O’DONNELL derangement syndrome.

Heh.

If you stayed home, you’d be the only one.

This year, real Americans will be coming out of the woodwork, and everywhere else, to vote O’Donnell into office.

Kristol and his WEEKLY subSTANDARD.

Giving the enemy opposition all the ammo they'll ever need.

Of course, Castle is the enemy too.

You know, I have NO idea what college Mike Castle attended, when he graduated, what he studied.

Just wondered about Obama's blackout years. Could the journalist did up a little on his grades. A picture of him on campus. Comments from his friends that went to classes with him.

She has a whole section on her web site showing all documentation from her home lien, satisfaction of mortgage.

she deals with it all, provides PDF files from the IRS.

I don’t know what you want from this woman but another symptom of Christine O’Donnell derangement syndrome...she can never do anything to correct the issue.

I don’t care if we have to replace them with ditch-diggers, janitors, or waitresses, so long as they promise to vote against big government, big taxes, and big socialism.

I'd rather we replace them with ditch-diggers, janitors, and waitress. The elites haven't done a good job.

"O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle"

The author is kidding right? Castle is RINO with NRA rating of "F". He might as well be a Democrat.

Agree 100%, but I’m disappointed it’s turned out this way. I’m a hard-core conservative, but I think it’s ridiculous to blindly support somebody just because he or she is conservative. There’s a lot more to a winning candidate than that.

The funny thing about Castle is that he makes John McCain and Lindsey Graham look like right wingers.

Let the National Republicans still support this bozo.

“According to the ACU (American Conservatives Union), Castle received a 28 out of 100 in 2008 for voting for conservative causes. Suddenly it piked in 2009, not by much. He received a 56. Slightly above half. And a lifetime rating of 52.49.

Contrast that to Senator McCain. At least McCain is trying to espouse some conservative bonafides 96 in 2009 and 63 in 2008, with a lifetime rating of 81.97. Lindsey Graham has an 88 rating in 2009, 82 in 2008, and a lifetime rating of 89.68.”

Thanks for your detailed reply.

Believe me, I do see your point. It’s just that I think in primaries you have to weigh many factors including whether a person is actually electable.

I realize it isn’t that simple. There are reasons to vote on principle knowing your going to lose elections. There are very good arguments that RINO’s do us more damage than if we’d just sucked it up, nominated the most conservative person we could find who had any shot at all, and went down to defeat for decades. At least people would know what we stood for, and when they finally tired of the left and voted for us they’d actually know what they were getting.

With that being said, I still think the best way forward is to put forward the most conservative candidate we can whom can actually win. Castle will be a vote for an R for majority leader, and we have a shot at taking the Senate. In the short run, taking control of the House and Senate would bottle up the Obama agenda - and that agenda simply needs to be stopped cold.

I loathe RINO’s, I really do. I think the primary process is great and running conservatives against moderates and RINO’s is generally fantastic. Some will get beat, some won’t. We are better off having an active, competitive primary against even entrenched incumbents - it generally moves the party to the right, gives it more conservative identity, puts candidates on the record, etc. Still, it sounds to me like O’Donnell has just too many skeletons tumbling out of her closet to be a serious stateside candidate. I just do not think she has any chance to win at all.
