I so agree. I got called a coward, a terrorist sympathizer, a jiahdi-lover and other such lovely things by a couple of subterranean morons here on FR two nights ago for saying pretty much the same thing.
Glad to see there are plenty of FReepers with some common sense.
Just a quick hello. Always glad to see your posts so I know you are OK. Cyaround!
So you folks would be agreeing with Alex Jones then? 9/11 was OUR fault? If we’d just leave these peaceful Muslims alone they wouldn’t bother us?
A Prime Minister in England once suggested that very idea about the peace loving Nazis too... He costs us a world war.
Islam is the 21st century’s Nazism. It needs dealt with the same way. Mocked to scorn, and eradicated via total warfare. Bombing their holiest cities on their holiest days. Like we did to the Nazis in Dresden on Christmas.
WARS are WON or LOST. And I wonder if you KNOW what losing this war means?
Most of the computer-Armchair Freepers who are soooooo versed in the Islamofascist history and current situation are probably just making a very simple error in their defense of public Koran burnings:
They assume the following about those angry Muslims in the mideast burning flags:
1. They are getting their news updates from Fox and CNN.
2. They are literate, therefore getting their news about any potential Koran burnings from the NYT.
3. They , of course, understand the finer points of our country’s politics that our US constitution allows the burning of items and general desecration of any religious items as part of Free speech.( uh, just like in their own countries, huh?)
4. That they of course understand that we have 100 Mosques in just NYC and Muslims are free to practice their religion.
.( uh, just like in their own countries, huh?)
5. That these Muslims are very aware that Sept 11 was a Tragic and sad day for Americans and our nerves might just be on edge.
Oh, uh ...BTW any comparisons yet to the Muslim protests and flag burnings to any Leftist or Black Power protests in LA?
As if they are having issues getting recruits. I guess we must heed the warning on moving the 9/11 victory mosque then too. Remember if it doesn’t get built there it will serve as a recruitment tool.
We should just surrender now I guess. {that was sarcasm}
General Petraeus was not right in saying what he said.
It is certainly true that our freedom puts our troops in harm’s way. But that’s the whole point of having troops.
Government officials shouldn’t be saying things that put our troops at greater risk. But citizens? Citizens have no responsibility to silence themselves to keep our enemies placated.
And it is dead wrong for a General, or for the Commander-In-Chief, to ever suggest that a citizen should self-censor, or take other actions against their own freedom and liberty, simply because their actions upset our enemies.
It’s like having President Roosevelt attacking Americans for saying bad things about Germans during WW2 since it would just make the German people madder at us.
It’s stupid to burn a Koran. Doing so gives Muslims more attention than they deserve. Doing so gives the Koran more value than it should have.
But General Petraeus was WRONG to attack a citizen for exercising their freedom, or to complain that a citizen’s free speech was putting troops in greater danger.
“I’ll defend to the death your right to say it”, has now become, in the Obama administration “I’ll be damned if I’ll lift a finger to defend you”.
After reading your first post, I see why people are annoyed with you.
You complain about being called a coward, a terrorist sympathizer, etc. and proceed to call your FR friends subterranean morons.
Gen Petraeaus was a big disappointment to me, trying to scare us with the idea that such acts might make the muslims mad and be a danger to our troops.
Duh, general, I like you, but if you think one preacher burning the Koran is gonna make a difference to people who hate us now, and who hated us before 9-11, well, you’re not as smart as I thought you were.
