No, they were not "ready" to do it.

I'm sure people sayd the same on 9/10/01. They ARE ready to do it and they will do it every chance they get.

If you want to play with our kids' lives, that's up to you. I prefer to fight the necessary battles. These are unnecessary ones; I care more about the welfare of soldiers who are putting their lives on the line every day than a handful of people who want to burn a book to make a statement.

All battles are necessary. These actions, which are constitutionally protected, serve to bring the radicals out in the open so that we can identify them and their allies. It's not surprising that one of their allies sits in the White House, but that's another issue.

And frankly, if someone is worried about the dangers of military service, they are free to remain a civilian. It's a volunteer military - there is no draft. People VOLUNTEER to go into harms' way, they're not coerced or forced to do so.

'Atta boy, Meyer! I'm getting pretty sick of hearing this "putting our troops in danger" crap. Betraying military secrets puts our troops in danger. If burning Korans in America on this day to protest Islam's growth in this nation since 9-11 and its audacious aim to build a mosque at Ground Zero endangers our troops -- well, all due respect to Gen. Petraeus, but I bet quite a few members of the military take that as one dirty-dog slap in the face. FReeper manc has already posted what one of his deployed friends in the military had to say about the "putting our troops in danger" concern.

It is hand-wringing. REAL "putting our troops in danger" is a spy who reveals military secrets.
