Remember Scott & Todd stayed on the air until around 7pm that day, not stopping their morning show from 6am. I had them on the radio all day -- they were my lifeline. I chose to stay in, not seeking out any friends beyond the phone, because Scott and Todd were keeping me sane. I thanked God for them on September 11, 2001.
God bless you for all you did in the aftermath.
Beautiful artwork - I hope it’s okay that I posted a link on Facebook. (If not, private mail me and I’ll take it off.)
I have noticed that nobody has asked him
Would you believe him if he told you?
It’s not my work. I think it was done by another FReeper several years ago. If I knew the artist I would give credit but I dont
My husband was on a camping/biking trip. He didn’t know anything about it until 3 days later.
Never Forget. God Bless America.
“I have since been deployed overseas 3 times much of which is noted here on FR.”
Thank you, David.
I will never forget that I owe my freedom to men and women like you.

I wrote this two years ago. It was an attempt to explain why I had been a Hillary, then a McCain supporter.
Mostly it was a cathartic for me. (from katharsis purging, cleansing)
I have to admit Obama has been a better CIC than I thought he would be.
Today, on the ninth anniversary, I am still worried that all of this spending and debt will hinder our ability to prosecute war effectively.
Reading over what I wrote then, I notice a few mistakes but Ive decided not to make any changes.
For example, the blinds on our bank of windows were actually shades.

Remembering September 11, 2001

Driving to work on I-205. I was away from TV and Radio all morning and afternoon. FR was my eyes and ears that day.
I woke up in Marysville CA hotel. I flew in from Alaska the day before. I was on my way to Reno for the National Championship Air Races
Turned on the TV and couldn’t believe my eyes. The second plane had already hit and then the towers fell.
All I could think of was who was responsible and how come the ICBMs weren’t on the way
The races were cancelled that year due to the nation flight restrictions. We sat over on the tarmac for 4 days talking about it and crying about it. Tried to play some golf to take our mind off of it but that didn’t work. It’s all we talked about
I must say, we were ready to go back in to help (my friends and I had retired from the military shortly before)
I’ll never forget. I know now how my mom felt about Pearl Harbor. She hated the Japanese til the day she died
I knew.
I called my husband who had left very early that morning to get ready for a conference he was running. They had already started that conference and did not know.
Spent the rest of the day on Free Republic and one eye on the TV..crying on and off.
I will never forget.
“About this time the second aircraft hit. I turned to him and said we are now at war and have between two and six years to win it. He asked why and I told him that it would take that long to turn the war into a political battle within the US just like Vietnam.”
If it were only a geographic and political battle, you’d be right. But this is an ideological battle, like communism—only worse. Islam is more dangerous. I felt if we could fight against communism for 50 years, we could do the same against radical Islam. I expected the struggle to take 20 years. The first 7 years went far better than I expected—I expected more attacks at the US and more US soldiers’ death.
The last few years under Obama, again, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. He hasn’t been as bad as I feared. Still, he has damaged our country and military position.
We’ll be lucky if we’re done in another ten years. We need another Reagan.
Point well taken.

I was installing a garage door with my coworker Jim in Southwest Missouri. The owner of the house came out and told us we had better come in and see what was going on. We went in and while we were watching, the other plane hit. We all stood speechless for several minutes. After finishing the garage door, we resumed our day. I got off early and remember sitting in our front yard looking up. Being in flyover country, it was extremely unusual for there to be no contrails. Not as exciting as some, but I’ll never forget.
God Bless America!
God Bless our Military and God Bless all the victims that fell on 9-11. I will NEVER FORGET! My heart is still broken and I can't imagine how families and friends and loved ones who perished have managed to go on.
Sorry, I too could not resist. Admit it, we could use a laugh.
I still remember how horrified I was when the whole towers collapsed on the news. After all the years I have realized none of it has anything to do with God and religion. Allah was just the lame excuse they had to act like hateful savages. That mosque they want to build near Ground Zero has nothing to do with religion.
I have this sticker on my car and it also has all the attacks sites written in white lettering along the black borders of the sticker.
