That would have to be a high yield weapon! I wonder if any FReepers can estimate what yield would cause the effects in that picture. Scary pic though.

As for the post - vigilance is necessary, because the foes of freedom neither rest nor get weary. For some it is purely ideological, for others they believe an edict from their god. They will never stop nor cease. Thus, those on freedom's side should also never stop nor cease, because we have to stop EVERY one of their attacks while they only need to succeed once! A warped game if any ever existed. A scary game where one side has to block each and every goal attempt, while the other side only needs to score 'one good goal.' Their timing is also quite protracted - very patient. Obama may be fortunate nothing occurs on his watch, or it could occur tomorrow. If Palin became president, her hard work on security may prevent half a dozen 9/11 style attacks, but by sheer dumb luck miss out on a WMD attack in Dallas! This is why security is an area that both Dems and Reps need to work together on ....it is an ares where 'the other party being wrong hahaha' can mean the loss of a city. Anyways ...I hope more people awake to the fact that the enemy is real, cannot be bargained with, isn't doing it because of Koran burning or panties on heads or 'our freedoms' and the other reasons those on the Left AND Right claim (the real reason is they believe their god has asked it of them ...imagine if you thought God expected something of you ...really really believed it ...no amount of discomfort or loss would dissuade you). The enemy is real. He needs to be stopped. The enemy doesn't rest. We cannot either. The enemy is focused, relentless and very patient. We cannot afford to be any less.

Let's hope that America, the New Rome, doesn't go the way of the Old Rome which laughed at the silly barbarians and their uncouth uncultured ways, while the barbarians watched from the shadows 'and their faces had no smiles.' My home country, Kenya, was attacked over 10 years ago. They killed a couple hundred of my people, and injured over a thousand, to kill less than a dozen Americans. Imagine what they would do if they could get a proper weapon to New York! That's the enemy we face, and while he may be uncultured and unkempt and almost hilarious in his quest to bring down a Superpower, he believes his god is behind him.

We need to treat our enemy the way he would treat us if he had our advantages. Weak livers get exposed to the sun.

Looks like 3 weapons to me, probably high-yield atomic or smallish hydrogen devices.

“I wonder if any FReepers can estimate what yield would cause the effects in that picture.”

Take a look at this:

Nuclear weapons effect simulator
http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/gmap/hydesim.html?inpyield=10

It’s a simulation using Google Maps. Type the city in the “Address Lookup” box, center the map wherever you want, type in the strength and it will estimate the size.

Scary stuff.

Actually, not that high yield, judging by the simulator Pastor Brooks linked.

Looks like about a 50-60 KT warhead going off in Chinatown, and another of similar size going off on about the border between Brooklyn and Queens. Really, not all that high yield... by the B61 standard of dial-up yields, these would only be considered moderately-large Tactical warheads, not even Strategic warheads at all.

But that's sorta bad news, as the devastation even two of these "little nukes" would wreak on the city is obvious from the depiction; and such smaller, battlefield-class warheads (of which the Soviets had tens of thousands in the 1970s-80s -- though many may have since substantially decayed in yield, or even become inert) would probably be the ones more likely to fall into the hands of Islamist terror groups (though still very unlikely at this time, I hope).
