Yet burning the Koran is news

One or two individuals burning a Koran deserves national/international coverage?

Don't think so. This is far from a widespread sentiment. Why pretend it should be a top story?

While as an action by a two-bit Fred Phelps wannabe burning a Koran itself isn’t really newsworthy, the fact that the media from far and near are covering every nuance of the story has made it “National” news. I didn’t decide it was, you didn’t. Even the so-called pastor really didn’t. Like Polls, it’s manufactured news, and it has become a national story.

A National ‘’mail in’’ is in order. Send a package with a partial burned Quran in it. Use a phoney return address or no return address. Drop package in a mailbox with sufficient postage on it.
