If I said God talked to me and said something that you did not believe, then you would say I was wrong, and I wasn’t really talking to God, wouldn’t you?

Sure they can. All believers who are in fellowship with Him are members of His body. He communicates in a myriad of ways. His Word is available to compare with one another and He is also known to speak sometimes directly to believers. Instead of searching for different belief, search for the faith He provides. It's veritable and true.
