Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday called a Florida churchs threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book to mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks a disrespectful, disgraceful act. (Sept. 7 Quran burning day to mark the 9/11 attacks says he is determined to go ahead in the face of fierce condemnation from the Obama administration.
Someone should simply take a Koran, and place a Bible on it. That would also be condemned, but it would be harder for the news media to spin it as something inherently evil.
I bet there is a Koran in there somewhere.
That’s not the issue here. The issue is freedom of speech. Are we as Christians allowed freedom of speech regarding islam and muslims?
What about having such a watered down message that what Christ said no longer matters in the face of political correctness, how does that stand with you?
"I may disagree with what you are saying, but I'll be damned if I will lift a finger to defend your right to say it".
No, that doesn't sound right at all.
What are Mohammed's thoughts?
O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. (Sura 5, verse 51).
And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah DESTROY them; how they are turned away! (Sura 9, verse 30).
And the Jews will not be pleased with you, nor the Christians until you follow their religion. Say: Surely Allah's guidance, that is the (true) guidance. And if you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you shall have no guardian from Allah, nor any helper. (Sura 2, verse 120).
And KILL them (the unbelievers) wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers. (Sura 2, verse 191).
Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming. (Sura 3, verse 28).
And guard yourselves against the fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers. (Sura 3, verse 131)
And when you journey in the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve will cause you distress, surely the unbelievers are your open ENEMY. (Sura 4, verse 101).
O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil). (Sura 9, verse 123).
Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (Sura 76, verse 4).
O you who believe! if you obey a party from among those who have been given the Book (The Jews and Christians), they will turn you back as unbelievers after you have believed. (Sura 3, verse 100).
And their taking usury (interests on money) though indeed they were forbidden it and their devouring the property of people falsely, and We have prepared for the unbelievers from among them a painful chastisement. (Sura 4. verse 161).
Surely Allah has cursed the unbelievers (Jews, Christians and followers of other faiths) and has prepared for them a burning fire. (Sura 33, verse 64).
And whoever does not believe in Allah and His Apostle, then surely We have prepared burning fire for the unbelievers. (Sura 48, verse 13).
There are many links to people of the Book.
Unfortunately, the Koran and Muhammad is all about coercing people to submit to Islam or die.
Make no mistake. There is evil consistently throughout the Koran etc.
Qur’an:33:22 “The Believers said: ‘This is what Allah and his Messenger promised us.’ It added to their faith, obedience, and submission. Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting). Some have completed their vow to extreme (and have been martyred) fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle.”
Thus sanctioning of holy war.
Tabari VIII:153
Ishaq:533 “Abdallah Rawahah encouraged the men, saying, ‘By Allah, what you loathe is the very thing you came out to seek - martyrdom. We are not fighting the enemy with number, strength, or multitude, but we are fighting them with this religion with which Allah has honored us. So come on! Both prospects are fine: victory or martyrdom.’”
Notice the “submit or die” coerciveness of the Koran
Ishaq:327 “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’”
Ah, kill them for religion, for Allah...a little theocratic imperialism, wouldn’t you say?
Qur’an 9:5 “When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, torture them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
...But Allah, via muhammad says to not just kill them, but kill them good and torture them.
All religion is not the same. Jesus Christ was the opposite of this fake prophet. Muhammad led over 75 raids, he was a ruthless killer. Christ taught love, compassion, Salvation.
I find the ending to be completely naive, Christians are decent loving folks, we don’t want to kill anyone, they walk on us because of our tolerance, they will never stop..
and acting like they don’t matter will not stop the fire they light in our house..
We are to be ‘wise as serpents.’
Which means here that we should not be taken in by glory seeking charlatans displaying empty meaningless gestures.
At best this is symbolism over substance.
lol, ping..
I disagree. I think he shouldn’t burn the Koran on 9/11, because I believe it is a disrespectful, cheap trick that cheapens the remembrance of that day.
I say to him: Burn the book on Sunday at your church service; don’t appropriate a solemn day like 9/11 for your pet cause; we all want to remember 9/11 in our own way.
So I guess I could care less who burns a Koran when, I think it’s stupid for a General to COMPLAIN about a legal act of liberty taken by a citizen he is tasked to defend, it’s rediculous for the media to cover this like the guy is about to murder someone, and the guy has no business trying to co-opt 9/11 for his own purposes.
I say don’t burn them. Read the parts about killing the infidel, etc. as I am sure there will be plenty of network TV cameras.
Terry Jones supports Fred Phelps and his God Hates Fags crusade. He is not someone we should be supporting.
So, we as a nation should be cowed? What do you call someone who is cowed? .... "Coward".
Agreed. (my last post was before I read this)
“Total nutjob”
Sorry I disagree - I’m glad there are folks in this world that can & will stand up to those out to DESTROY this nation.
There’s nothing nutty or crazy about this - FREE people protesting a “religion” of Death & Destruction.
God Bless Them!
Awwww. Did I just dis your pastor? Why wouldn't that surprise me?
Agreed .......... I think it's brilliant!
You are relying on these people to SAVE this nation?
My son is on day 2 there as we speak. I dont know if this will cause one extra death, though my feeling is that it will. I dont know if we can make them hate us more than they do but this Koran burning certainly gives them justification in their demented minds.
My larger issue is that this is a horrible witness. Christianity takes a beating in the media everyday. Pastors are portrayed as nut jobs all of the time. I wish, so much, that this pastor wouldn’t add fuel to this fire. I cant see how his symbolic point can help with the salvation of sinners and a turning to Christ in our land. I believe that it actually hampers it.
