Its war, our leaders in Washington are too busy to notice that most of America declared war against Islam.

We are fed up and too smart to see what Islam really is, its our enemy.

It is war and this act is a weapon and we will not surrender our weapons.

If this was 1942 Walt Disney would have cartoons of Americans burning the Koran. There were many making a mockery of Hitler and his Mein Kampf.

We are at war with Islam, maybe some people still think they can just kneel down, get their gold and uniform in supplication to Xerxes(Islam) and they will be safe and alive, war will involve death and injuries, reality bites.

What are YOUR thoughts?
Good question.

Here are my thoughts:

1) it will never happen. The local police & fire will be on location & will immediately extinquish any fire set or close to setting that book on fire. Immediately afterwards, he’ll be arrested for risking a catastrophy, inciting a riot & given numerous citations.

This will immediately empower muslims worldwide to celebrate because they’ll look at it as they have won.

My personal feeling is this:
I’d prefer not to stoop down to their level.
Sure I’m fully aware of the bible burnings, stonings, beheadings & slaughter of innocents in the name of their God, but I’m also aware that much the same happened in the Old Testament too.

Is that not why Jesus was sent here to clean up that mess?

Likewise, my other feelings are this as I see things:
Everything Obama touches turns to sheet, & once we pull out of Iraq & Afganistan, that entire region will erupt into absolute chaos.
Things will take care of themselves IMO.

When we treat that book as sacred it makes it look like we think the book is valid. That only feeds their fanaticism. “See, even the infidels know the koran is the word of god”. Screw it. Every other group can get abused or joked about, muslims are not immune. Welcome to America.
Burn Baby Burn.

“Why is he a nutjob?”

The same reason Fred Phelps is a nut job. Having a Church is a great responsibility. You are ambassadors to your community bringing it the Good News of Christ and living as an example. If the message you are relaying is one of hate and intolerance, you are no different than the ministers in the 1950’s who had a KKK robe in the closet at home.

Although I don't really think burning a Quran is very productive in its self, the reaction has been very productive.

Very productive? It has taken the Ground Zero Mosque off of the front page and let Obama off the hook.

Do you want to be the person to explain to the parents of the dead soldier that the reason s/he died is so that this church could engage in a pointless and dangerous exercise?

This is a silly post...these bastards don't need another reason to kill our guys!!!!

Opposition to Terry Jones is not pro-Muslim.

Just like opposition to Fred Phelps does not make you pro-gay.

I have to agree with you. I have been thinking about this since it was first reported and my first thought was it is about time we show them we are not afraid of them and why not burn the Koran...they burn our flag, they killed how many of our American brother and sisters and they kill our soldiers....yes I say burn the book!!!

They should wrap the koran with greasy bacon before lighting it on fire, then put out the flames with a shoe smeared with dog feces.

Isn’t this one of the reasons our soldiers are fighting? For freedom?

There is nothing hateful or intolerant about refusing to respect the murderous rantings of a pedophile, and the KKK comparison is just flat ludicrous.

Being bigoted about someone because of the color they are born with is NOT the same as being leery of someone because of their choice of 'religion'.

You probably need another argument.

The burn the koran preacher supports the protests at soldiers' funerals.

I think if you surveyed the soldiers, they would not claim to be fighting for people like that.

My argument is fine. Freedom of speech is one of the things at stake here.

As you say, it’s a war. It’s a war with actual soldiers in actual battle in Afghanistan. Just because we don’t agree with the leadership and the decisions of that war (ROE, eg), doesn’t mean we can run off fighting the war in any direction we want. What kind of fighting force is that? Every man for himself? Is that your war strategy.

To those who say “this is freedom of speech”, I say: you are right. You have a strong point.

To those who say “this is war”, I say: wars are won by disciplined actions, not chaotic “self-expression”.

If you really believe it is WAR, then goddamn ACT like it’s war and have some respect for our TROOPS.
