I guess he won’t be making Muslims angry on FR anymore. /s lol
Eff the Muslims. God bless Petraeus but he needs to let our boys do their job. We’ll take care of the scum on this side of the pond. Right?
>>>>You have obviously have never served in the Military or otherwise you would know that the safety of the troops are the first concern of the general, especially General Petraeus
I thought that the first concern of General Petraeus is the defense of the American constitution, especially that pesky part of it called the First Ammendment. If giving up the right to free speech and free expression, is the price that Americans have to pay to win the war on terrorism, then we may as well wave the white flag and surrender.
What if the Taliban demands that American women start wearing burkhas, as the price for good relations with the Afghani people. Are we going to condemn American women who refuse to wear burkhas, for causing the deaths of American soldiers? After all, putting American women in burkhas is a small price to pay, to save the lives of our precious boys in uniform, right?
Don’t you think it’s kinda hard to win the war when your troops are being killed by civilians and wasting their time on non-productive, non-strategic counteroffensives? I’m thinking his chances of winning the war are increased when he’s not losing soldiers unnecessarily. But that’s just me.
How, exactly, do you think your “perhaps he .. doesn’t want to win this war” comment is any different than the “General BetrayUs” of move-on? Shameful and disgusting.
I think all soldiers lost in that hell-hole are unnecessary. Do you know what the point of this war is?
These particular enemies, who use their indignation and our decency both against us? I think he’s mistaken on what strengthens and what weakens them in this case.
So, you’re saying just bring all the troops home and let the Taliban/AlQuada/Hamas, etc. have the whole of Afghanistan as their own unimpeded breeding/training ground for terrorists? The purpose of the engagement there is to weed those factions out before they come here. Not unlike the purpose in Iraq. The idea is to engage them on their turf rather than your own, because engage you they will.
What gives you the idea that he won’t let the troops do their job?
Just what does the expression of 1st amendment freedoms in the USA have to do with General Patraeus. Pretty soon he’ll be just like nobama...a community organizer that someone is calling a dog. Just when did he become a social worker?????

Huh...whaa....?
National Socialism was by definition atheistic. You DO know that, don't you?

“You think we won in Iraq?!”
“Just like we “won” in Vietnam after we pulled out of there.”
The two situations are not comparable. Before US combat troops were pulled out of Iraq, we took out its pre-war government that was hostile to US interests. A new government was established that to some degree is democratic and has Western principles. And, some 50K US/coalition troops remain in the country, working with its military and police.
When we pulled out of Vietnam, no American troops remained behind, and an anti-US communist government was installed that has remained in place for the past 30-plus years.
Misspoke.
He needs to worry about letting our boys do their jobs - not about how we exercise our rights. His job is to kill our enemy. Not weigh in on how we exercise our constitutional rights.
“Gen. David Petraeus said the Taliban would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S. and making it harder for allied troops to carry out their mission of protecting Afghan civilians.
Yeah, we wouldnt want them to be angry at us!
When did this guy become such a p*ssy?
And why is our mission protecting Afghan civilians instead of killing these nasty little b*strds dead? The only way to protect them is to exterminate the vermin that will kill them anyway.”
When did you become a moron?
That’s a fight the government can’t win.
All it takes is one irate screwball to walk into a shopping mall with a bomb strapped to his chest and up in smoke he goes in smoke a lot of innocent men women and children.
I’d say the blood of the innocents is on the hands of the “church” who wants to provoke a lot of crazy people....This is like yelling fire in a crowded theatre.
Why provoke anyone if its not necessary ?
And for all the brave two fisted fighters around....
your walking down a street and you see 2 guys who want to start something waiting for you .... what do you do? ....I think if it makes sense you walk to the other side of the street and avoid the conflict ....its called being smart. (life is not a movie)
One thing I want to know is HOW does a third world Country with 1 TV for every 10,000 people get a report about what a church is going to do in Gainesville. The media & leftest that want nothing more than islam to attack our own Country, tell our enemies(islam) what is going on. So when something does happen it won't be the muslim terrorist's fault..it will be someone else’s fault.
These same leftest will gladly burn a US Flag or a Christian Bible & claim freedom of speech.
Unbelievable
Burning books is not the way to go. It smells of totalitarianism. Petraeus is an educated man man that is speaking out against the idea of the idea of burning the ideas in them. No matter how repulsed we may be by the Koran, the symbolism of burning them is wrong.
Fahrenheit 451 and A Brave New World laid out the dangers of this quite well. Nazi Germany ilustrated it even better. We ain't Saudi, we ain't Nazi Germany. We are America. Let's be real, doing crap like this sets the precedent for the bozo's that would follow Obama into the abyss. Petraeus is expressing what an American General should, American Values. Flame away.
Shouldn’t Petraeus be whining about restrictive rules of engagement that endanger his troops instead of Americans exercising their rights at home?
crap
strike the second-”Of the idea”
