What you have done is what I call the “safety of the negative”. You look back and say what we should have done, you look to the present and say the situation is hopeless, and you predict a dismal future.
If you are right about the future you say, “I told you so.”
If you are wrong, you say, “I was wrong, isn’t that great?”
