The leader of the Ground Zero mosque got hugely valuable tax-exempt status for a Muslim organization he founded after claiming as many as 500 of its members prayed daily in a small, one-bedroom Upper West Side apartment also listed as his wife's residence, The Post has learned.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf sought "church status" -- an official IRS term for a house of worship of any religion -- for the American Sufi Muslim Association, or ASMA, in 1998. The feds granted the request.

"Church status" is more than just an exemption -- it means never having to pay taxes, file returns or reveal the sources of a congregation's money or how it's spent, according to the Washington-based Investigative Project on Terrorism, which discovered the group's startling claims on the IRS form it filed seeking the special status.

On that form, the organization said it held services at 201 W. 85th St.

That’s it! I’m inviting the neighbors over to pray and claiming my house, too! We can take turns and all claim our houses.

So the enemy hides behind our Constitution and IRS rules. As some point there needs to be a rational discussion about the "religious freedom" canard/argument when the particular example - or sect that the left so acrimoniously protects - espouses destruction of the very Constitution that is temporarily protecting that sect.

This is not anti-Islam, necessarily, it should be up-front, honest, 4-square opposition of the implementation of Shari'a and its necessity to destroy the Constitution and thus the US.

This is a fundamental argument for the future of the US. Shari'a has started to infect the host - unfortunately it is spreading from the head-down - POTUS/White Crib sympathy plus infiltration of the SCOTUS/legal system. The House and Senate would logically be next, and this is where the line needs to be drawn for the 2010 mid-terms.

Get rid of tax-exempt status for all religions.

We're WAY beyond this - although I don't necessarily disagree we need major overhaul in the IRS code for a whole host of reasons.

It’s hard to dig yourself out of a hole that you’ve dug and in which you’ve even built a house.
