But of course that ‘belief’ is grossly unscriptural!
God wishes his name to be on our lips incessantly, but not IN VAIN.
We are to use his name to call on him, but not to invoke sin.

Exactly. When I teach this, I have the luxury of more time to make points like this: that God used the customs and teachings of the rabbis to show his people the way to himself.
This is especially true of the customs that have developed around Pesach, Passover.
BTW, all religions have these wall building type rules. They are developed over the years by religious leaders trying to help the people under them avoid breaking God’s commandments and laws.
