You cannot effect any change on social issues if you don’t WIN.

Sure you can. Both the pro-life movement & traditional marriage proponents have been very effective, passing DOMA in the 90s and outlawing partial-birth abortion. Also working on public opinion which shows more people support traditional marriages and younger people being pro-life.

If a Republican disregards life and supports homosexual marriage, how are we to trust him on other issues that matter? Giving benefits to homosexual couples and funding Planned Parenthood isn't fiscal conservatism.

So we become like Obama, without raising the taxes so high or restricting our liberties quite as much? Obamalite?

How many times have folks voted in moderates who claimed to be fiscal conservatives, only to have them pull a 180 in office? 9 times out of 10 the desire to be moderate spills over to a wishywashy stance on taxes, earmarks and spending.

Maybe the difference is a man or woman who is not afraid to stand up for they believe is more likely to stand strong on fiscal matters. All know is that we keep trying it your way and we just keep moving left. I believe it’s part of the reason we are in the mess we’re in.

Oh, we plan to win in the long run. Note that Lincoln lost running for the U.S. Senate in 1858. And took less than 40% of the vote in 1860. But 39% was enough to win that year.

In 1776-1779, Washington had less than 40% on his side. Pick the right battles (which is what you are trying to say, I believe) and grow.

I'm pretty sure we end up with 6 solid Tea Senators in 2011. If we do the same in 2012 and 2014, that's 18. If we get a good candidate for President in 2012, we could get 2-5 on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Is it our time in history? Yes. Will this become clear? Yes. Will the State Rum Media viciously attack us? Absolutely.

"You cannot effect any change on social issues if you don’t WIN."

And if you win with a bunch of lilly-livered RINOs and Losertarians, who don't have the backbone to take up social change, what have you gained? Nothing.

Better to show the nation you have guts. To paraphrase one of the best lines in Braveheart, "people don't follow nobility, they follow courage."

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Oh?

Daniel 4:31-32

“O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.”

The folks who want the focus on these "wedge issues" are no better than those on the other end of the spectrum who want to use government to enforce their will.

That they refuse to budge shows me that they are no friends to freedom either.

- Fiscal responsibility
- Limited government
- Follow the Constitution

I’d like to add “Root out fraud and corruption” to that.

That's what it's all about, and if conservative evangelicals want to support these ideas, great. They're more than welcome. But I draw the line at their attempts to co-opt the movement and make it denominational.

You cannot win by not fighting for what you believe, even if you have to step on a few toes to get there.
