I caught that too...but imagine if he did NOT mention mosques? Everything else in the three hours would be lost...and that would be the ‘money’ quote chosen.

I think you just bristled at the mention.
He said right after that if God is there, we must support them.

Again, another reference, this one to Samuel Adams who Glenn has reminded us said, "I'm no bigot, I'll pray with anyone."
But when he says that, and he has said it several times in the weeks leading up to this event, he always adds, "as long as your place of worship does not advocate killing anyone." He said it again on Saturday, over the noise of the crowd applauding to the "go to your churches, your synagogues, your mosques" statement.
