Is the Metro running a reduced weekend schedule to frustrate the attendees?

No, they’re running a reduced weekend schedule so they can save money and work on tracks. Frustrating Conservatives is a side benefit.

It would not surprise me if they were.

According to the NYTimes covverage, there shouldn’t be any problem at all. They posted this story 12 minutes ago, saying that ‘tens of thousands’ attended:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/29/us/politics/29beck.html?_r=1&hp.

As you can see, they accompanied the story with a photo of all of 11 people from earlier this morning. (This thread shows the actual crowd that was already there at 6:30 AM.) I also clicked through on their link for live coverage, but they had just Sharpton’s rally there instead, which the MSNBC feed had plugged as “massive”.
