Florida GOP wanted Charlie Crist to be Senator and McCollum to be governor. Although McCollum is not a bad guy (is a conservative on most issues), and no where near the weasel that Crist is, those were the big establishment candidates.

If you want someone to blame for why McCain won the 2008 Florida presidential primary...you can blame that Tallahassee GOP establishment that is facing a voter revolt right now. They are going to be pissed because now McCollum is out and Crist is down in the polls at the moment. There is some Republican infighting going on here. And that’s why these races are turning so negative, and sure the Dems will try to capitalize off it. But you got to clean the attic somehow.

As for Scott, he is a political outsider. He funded his campaign mainly with his own money and isnt owned by special interests. But he does have some baggage with the Columbia/HCR scandal the Democrats will no doubt slam him on.
In the end, the fact that Obama’s popularity is bad in Florida, Republican voters will likely have a huge turnout in November, and Scott has a good ground campaign and financial advantage over Sink....Scott should squeek out a win.

If the McCollum voters go and vote for Sink like some on here are claiming they will do. They are idiots and probably arnt real Republicans anyway. Sink is pro-Obama. She’s pro-Obamacare. And she’s in favor of open borders. She’s also had her hands in the real estate cookie jar when she was with Bank of America. Any Republican that votes for that is not a conservative. But there are idiot Republicans in this state.

FLRnc was backing McCollum but to say they wanted Crist NOW is crazy. Getting rid of Greer put an end to that - Crist’s support was waining within the party; that is one large reason he went Independent.

I fully agree with FLRNC with the 08 elections McCain. That race was a blessing in disguise, it’s one of a multitude of reasons Crist/Greer was ousted. That was NOT worth having Obama in the WH though and lets face fact, McCain ran a lousy campaign.

I’m pretty damned concerned about Scott’s ability to win given what I’m looking at.

The RNC came out in huge numbers today for a mid-term; in some cases record numbers. In every single race I looked at, the R candidate brought in more votes than their Dem counterpart. Some 3:1 or more, all except for Scott.

Alex Sink Dem. 663,510 (76.91%)
Rick Scott Rep. 595,183 (46.41%)

She beats him easily in overall votes.

Total votes however, makes the race flips.

Rep. 1,282,490 total votes cast.
Dem. 862,757 total votes cast.

Scott will have to get all of McCollum’s votes, without them he will not have a winnable base to work from.

This is reality and what we’ll need to deal with for November.
