Former Democratic National Party chairman Howard Dean predicted on Sunday that his party will retain a narrow majority in the House.
"I'd bet money on the Senate, for sure. The House is much tougher," Dean told CNN's "State of the Union."
"We're going to win in the House and we're going to have a majority. It will probably be reduced to ... perhaps as small as a five- or 10-seat majority," he said.
Last month, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said there was "no doubt" that it would be tough for Democrats to squeak by without losing power in the November midterm elections. His remarks reportedly irked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
But Dean painted a much rosier picture in a year in which the economy has been slow to recover and President Obama's popularity has plunged.
"We simply have better candidates," he boasted.
Caution, if my math is correct and they pick up 103 seats they have a super-majority. That would be a stunner...
“...if my math is correct and they pick up 103 seats they have a super-majority. That would be a stunner...”
A very welcome stunner.
He’s setting himself up for a reprise...
Slow?
Let’s prove him wrong. Let’s have, oh, say, 300 Republicans to 135 Demon-rats.
And as for the Senate, we need at least 13 or 14 more Republicans, just to offset the morons from Maine.
Tonight Laura Ingraham, substituting for Bill O’Reilly, played a clip of a very weird performance by Yoko Ono in the “Pinheads” segment near the end. It seemed to me that Yoko was just doing a musical interpretation of Howard Dean’s scream.
Why do news organizations even bother reporting that politicians and apparatchiks predict victory for their party in the coming election? Talk about dog bites man.
He is, quite plainly, divorced from reality.
A phrase comes to mind: “Whistling past the graveyard”.
Well, he would know. He helps direct the cheating.
Just like Baghdad Bob Gibbs when he implied the Dems could lose the House. Nazi Pelosi screamed bloody murder and Gibbs had to walk back his statements.
That depends on what your definition of "recover" is.
money.
he is counting on the usual zombie democrats who will vote for any democrat.
unionistas who want socialism
and most important
the FACT democrats have 2x the money.
Dean is on CNBC
Dean is on CNN
Dean is on MSNBC

Steete? picture on milk carton.
Even if they have LOTS of money (Dems), it is NO Gareentee that they will get back in.
the general rule in general elections is money = votes won.
candidates who spend more win more often.
personally I think most of the money will go to the high profile insiders. Reid and Pelosi.
We will see. But I have a gut feeling that November 2010 will make November 1994 like a day at the beach, just saying.
