Should we have not had capitalism anywhere in America until the Soviet Union allowed people to buy and sell private property in Russia?

Now I agree that saying this is for ‘healing’ and ‘reconciliation’ is camel excrement, but American rights are not dependent upon the laws of any other nation.

Cracked is the same type of source as The Onion. An outrageous twisting of current events meant to be humorous and should be taken as such. My pointing this out is not ridiculous, but what *is* ridiculous is so many on this thread believing that this is a real opinion piece, and not the outrageous attempt at humor that it really is.

Furthermore, if you read this 'screed' all the way thru, you'll notice that the writer is getting more and more outrageous and incoherent as it goes on ... this is intentional, as the writer is making a mockery of liberals and their thought process.

I read it in that manner, considering the source, that the writer is mocking liberals and their incoherent paradoxical rantings ... your mileage may vary.

Gladstone uses what he considers facts as humor much like Jon Stewart does on Comedy central.

In other words he uses leftist propaganda that would only make ill informed people laugh.

Go ahead and read it how you want. But insulting the intelligence of everyone posting here is really not very smart.

Firstly, I didn't think it was funny either ... actually I thought it was kinda stoopid, as I stated an 'attempt' at humor. Secondly, there was no insult to anyone's intelligence by pointing out that they are reacting to a so-called 'humor' screed published by a notorious humor magazine masquerading as 'news'. Cracked isn't 'news', and never was nor claims to be, nor is The Onion, or Weekly World News for that matter. All I am saying is to consider the source, that's all.

There is NO way to say that an individual has a protected right to do something and simultaneously criticize your government for not suppressing the execution of that right.

I do no believe anyone is petitioning the government to stop it. In fact, what they are doing is asking the people exercising their right to practice their religion to also practice some common sense and responsibility in their doing so. While all Americans have the same rights under the Constitution, common sense applies in their practice......to everyone.

I don’t usually write about politics...
That’s good. You don’t understand the issues. Read and study for a few years and come back later.

Well,you are turning it backwards.

America should reject the systems like islam and state communism that demand total obedience,at least until those systems show their adherents are willing to peacefully tolerate and respect others..

We didn't allow the Stalinist regime and successors to build hundreds of communist recruiting and indoctrination facilities in America staffed by Russian operatives in uniform.

We did allow Americans to be as “Stalinist” as they wanted to be, and the American Communist Party was going strong all during the Cold War (infiltrated by the FBI).

America should reject systems like islam and communism by outlawing Americans from subscribing to their belief system?

We need to destroy our freedom in order to save it?

The rights of Americans are not dependent upon the laws of any other nation.

Americans are free to be as Islamic as they want to be, and that freedom is not in any way dependent upon Saudi Arabia becoming a land of religious liberty.

We ARE a land of religious liberty. Even if you disagree that we should be.

No,Americans are not free to be as "stalinist" or as "Islamic" as they wish ,or to fully embrace and act on ANY creed which calls for abolition of America's freedoms for everyone else.

Anyone may believe all sorts of things in his own mind;but societies set limits on what actions a person may take.

You would allow sedition, treason, and terrorism to spread by allowing them to claim freedom.American freedom was never intended to protect those who act to destroy the country.

We can and should outlaw and prosecute all acts of violence, intimidation, and conspiracy done on behalf of those belief systems.

Our forefathers made altering the tenets of Mormonism a condition of "Deseret" becoming a member of the United States.

And there are religions in history still no doubt practiced somewhere that call for actual human sacrifice.

Would you have those religions allowed to practice in the United States?

Personally,I think the 3000 humans sacrificed on 9-11 by Muslim fanatics are quite enough.

“Anyone may believe all sorts of things in his own mind;but societies set limits on what actions a person may take.”

Exactly. And Americans were free to be Communist, free to associate with Communists, free to gather among like minded Communists and form organizations (that were promptly infiltrated by the FBI).

They are free to believe any fool thing they want, but they are watched (due to their anti-American ideology, they warrant and receive special scrutiny) and any criminal actions ARE prosecuted.

But to forbid Americans to build or organize around a religion or ideology dependent upon the laws of a despotic tyranny? Absolutely ridiculous!
