Six million still need relief
* Anger rising
* World Bank may redirect $900 million in aid
* 500 stranded fuel tanker drivers
SUKKUR, Pakistan Aug 14 (Reuters) - United Nations aid agencies have provided assistance to hundreds of thousands of victims of Pakistan's worst floods in decades but relief operations have yet to reach an estimated six million people.
The lives of 20 million people -- nearly 12 percent of the population -- have been disrupted by one of the worst catastrophes in Pakistan's history. Six million still need food, shelter and water, the UN said in a statement.
Highlighting the scale of the disaster, Prime Minister Raza Yusuf Gilani said in an Independence Day speech the country faces challenges similar to those during the 1947 partition of the subcontinent.
Thousands of families were torn apart after the bloody partition into Hindu-dominated India and Muslim-majority Pakistan that led to the flight of at least 10 million refugees in the greatest migration in recorded human history.
The floods, triggered by torrential monsoon downpours just over two weeks ago, engulfed Pakistan's Indus river basin, killing up to 1,600 people.

Ask for help from Bin Laden.........boo hoo..........
I too am tired of the expectation that the US deliver aid to people who hate us. Perhaps they should spend less time in madrassahs studying the Quran and terrorist techniques, and more on learning useful things that could lift them out of poverty.
The UN is largely a muslim organization, so why cant they pass the had amongst them and raise the cash?
Pakistans partner Iran can raise lots of money to fund terror globally, give all kinds of cash , arms, and support to hamas, hezbollah, al quada , Syria etc etc why dont they dig a little deeper for their brother?
Isn’t this the very part of Pakistan that the Taliban has taken over? (Why don’t I care?)
Just where the heck is China...they have all of the USA’s money?
good question. I doubt Paki’s figure it out...
Anger? About what? I can understand fear, dread—but anger?
Unless they’re referring to the steps of the grieving process, anger would be inappropriate. Anger at whom? For what? I’m truly sorry when I hear about humans and animals in misery, but somehow anger doesn’t fit into the picture.
so we have been paying our enemies to defeat us all these years?
)))shrugs((( Inshallah, and allah t’allah knows best.
Yup...western civilization has been paying for their own downfall.
If you look at moamarr ghadaffi for an example. when he moves, all of Africa moves with his vote. That is 83 or thereabouts “nations”, just two years ago they voted him “king of kings”. Momarr votes and is aligned with the Arab league and the rest of the moslems....and we can keep on going....
Where’s all that Saudi money to help their Muslim brothers?
Prayin’ for Rain...
Has anyone heard about our help to Pakistan? It seems very different from the massive effort we put on after the Tsunami in Indonesia.
Actually, it just looks like we’re cheap.
UN Secretary General says this is the worst catastrophe he’s ever seen. Worse than Haiti.
Right in the center of the Taliban stronghold.
