Both Iraq and Afghanistan should have been divided along ethnic lines and set to killing each other.

The message should have been: You f with us, and we will track you, personally, down and kill you. And your country will simply cease to exist.

It would have been especially appropriate in the case of Iraq, as Turkey wouldn't allow us to stage from their territory, and there is nothing Turkey fears more than an independent Kurdistan on their border.

It would have been a suitable reward for their "help"...

It wasn’t NATO, it was a member of the EU. Turkey has been a member of NATO for a long time.

I am assuming you were being sarcastic. The article doesn’t say what method was used in the “forensic” study by the university. Seems like this could be easily determined, so I remain skeptical of the initial report until confirmed....despite Turkey’s history with acts of genocide.

It's certainly headed that direction. There is a significant portion of the population that while they may call themselves "Muslim", they're really not any religion at all. And, those people just want to live life in the most "western" style possible. Unfortunately, the Islamacists are really starting to win. What happened to Lebanon in the 70s, could easily happen to Turkey soon, if it isn't happening already.

I was at Incirlik Air Base in the late 80s, and then again back in 2008 and some opportunity to travel around a little. The difference was remarkable - for the worse.
