Who says they were taunting the officer? I know these kinds of kids. They thrive on adrenaline and wear their scars like badges. They brag about close calls and broken bones. Maybe they really were applauding the officer out of respect.
BTW, a speeding motorcycle can’t hurt anyone inside a car. They are (mostly) only a danger to themselves.
There are so many falsehoods in your post, I don’t know which one to disprove first.
Are you saying a motorcycle swerving in front of a car isn’t a danger? They are a danger to all!
While I do admire someone who can do a wheelie @ 60+mph, they're most definitely are a hazard to everyone.
Somewhere online there is a picture of a small car that has a MC totally within it. The car was broadsided at very high speed and all three people - two in the car- were killed.
Yeah and pit bulls are a gentle breed that are just misunderstood.
The cyclist’s motive for going back to the cop car was probably just to see if the cop was okay and when they saw he was conscious they reacted happily with applause.
“BTW, a speeding motorcycle cant hurt anyone inside a car. They are (mostly) only a danger to themselves.”
Wrong, velocity will overcome mass. I have seen some horific crashes involving donor cycles and vehicles.
I’m amazed at how many people on this thread think 100mph is super WOW fast.
Oh...
Ever been center-punched in your driver's side door by a Harley?

Time to rethink hypothesis!

Here's one of the other-than mostly's... just FYI...

IIRC -- The biker and two people in the car all died instantly.

“BTW, a speeding motorcycle cant hurt anyone inside a car. They are (mostly) only a danger to themselves.”
What a shockingly ignorant statement. Sometimes drivers aren’t willing to go ahead and ram into and possibly kill motorcyclists just because they’ll be relatively unharmed. Their evasive action is dangerous to themselves and other cars, as in the case of the above story.
That is not true. It may be accurate to say that the motorcycle will not hurt the automobile, but a sudden unexpected impact can easily cause someone to react in such a way that they either lose control of their vehicle, or simply swerve too much to collide with a car (or semi) in the next lane, go flying off the road into a tree (or over a cliff) or even into a divider. We are talking freeway speeds here, there isn’t much forgiveness for sudden changes in direction...it wouldn’t take much to send my 66 landruiser tumbling end over end.
This is probably a waste of letters, but I’m going to give you a little physics lesson.
Energy = 1/2 * mass * velocity * velocity.
So the ratio of energy between a 3000 lb car going 50 mph and a 750 lb crotch rocket (w rider) going 100 mph is:
(1/2 * 3000 * 50 * 50) / (1/2 * 750 * 100 * 100) = ONE
(Yeah, I mixed units, but they cancel out in the ratio.)
That means getting hit by a typical crotch rocket at 100 is EXACTLY like getting hit by a car at 50. Except a crotch rocket hits over a much smaller area of impact, which means it will cut through what it hits. Like a knife through butter, or rather a 750 lb knife through steel, glass, and flesh.
>>BTW, a speeding motorcycle cant hurt anyone inside a car. They are (mostly) only a danger to themselves.
Not accurate. I ride and try to do so respectful of laws and such, but my cousin was hit by a motorcyclist going ~130 mph (estimated by police).
His Jeep was nearly cut in two, the Jeep itself was flipped, he had a broken back despite being seatbelted in. Obviously the motorcyclist died, and had my cousin’s Jeep been hit about -2-3 feet one way, he’d probably be dead too.
