Crowd waiting for housing vouchers gets rowdy
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | August 11, 2010 | Mike Morris

Posted on 08/11/2010 9:46:46 AM PDT by BradtotheBone

A crowd of people hoping to get federal housing assistance became unruly Wednesday morning with reports of fights breaking out in the crowd.

Thousands of people were lined up at the Tri-Cities shopping center, hoping to apply for a voucher from the East Point Housing Authority that will give them a discount on their rent.

People began lining up at the shopping center two days ago, and by Wednesday morning the crowd had grown to over 1,000 people. East Point police, some wearing riot helmets, were patrolling the area. Firefighters and EMTs were attending to people who were overheating in the sun. College Park police and firefighters were also assisting in crowd control.

Felecia McGhee told the AJC she arrived around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. She said the major problem began when people started breaking into the line and officials started moving the areas where they were handing out applications. She said she saw at least two small children trampled when the crowd rushed the building where the applications were to be handed out.

"It's a real mess out here," she said.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik said fights were breaking out and police had to stop people who were storming the door.

“Obama’s gonna pay my mortgage and buy my gas!”

It’s taken him awhile, but he’s starting to make good on the first bit of hype.

"A civil war will be very bloody in this nation."
I understand that, and I do not actually "yearn" for any kind of strife or violence in my once-great country, but our society and culture is in a downward death spiral; No one argues that point. More and more as events unfold, it appears that we have been painted into a corner and we have no other options available to us.

Regarding the ballot box, it is increasingly apparent that our elections are a farce, and are to be won by whoever is able to create the most dead voters.

Regarding the dregs of society, it is increasingly apparent that their sense of entitlement has grown to the point where they are a literal threat to my life and the lives of my loved ones: Some people are fully willing to kill you for your big screen TV, because, well, they feel entitled.

I see no way to pull America out of its' cultural morass. There are literally millions of people in our country who have never had a "corrective reading" except from the criminal justice system. White folks dare not speak out against unjust and immoral acts that they see in public for fear of physical violence (ghetto mamas in the handicapped parking spot is my latest experience), or at the least for fear of being called a racist.

There are millions of ghetto-Americans who have never read a book and will never do so. They get their norms and values from "the street", which is a polite way of saying "law of the jungle". They seethe with hatred of me and those with my skin color simply because that's what they have been fed.

No, my FRiends, there is no way out for us; there is no way for us to legally transmit our norms and values to the younger generation so as to assure the continuance of our culture and Nation.

And I think that's sad.

“Civility and proper behavior are dying in America as we speak, and we are allowing it to happen right before our eyes, because we are afraid of being called racist.”

Hey, I Buried My Guns, better start digging them up! There is no good end to what is happening in our country. I fear there is a war coming and there will be blood in the streets starting in the big cities. Detroit, Chicago, Philly, Pittsburg, LA, Oakland, D.C. etc.

Every large city with a high black population will experience riots and the usual looting and fires.

I’m not being racist, just being realistic.

Don’t sweat it, this is FR. Any liberals leaping on you screeching political correctness will get stomped on quite quickly. You can feel safe to speak your mind here, and take pride in your heritage.

They are like alcoholics, addicted to nanny-statism but it is the government, on both sides of the aisle, who is the enabler. That’s where our fight lies.

Good point.

I would also add that some would argue that the media is our main enemy. I go back and forth. Which is the main enemy, and which is the secondary one?

“I see in this story something more epic and malevolent: the utter implosion of my culture and the complete tearing of our social fabric,”

Bingo. You got it.

Then your fight is with the government. It is direct governmental policies which are responsible for the current situation.

Yep.

Empathy and charity are the things that seperate humans from animals.

When handled privately, both the donor and the recipient benefit.

When government gets involved, we see situations like those in this story. The more we see of this, the more regular working people get pissed off.

It's gonna get ugly.

If the worst happens (and pray it does not), those crowds will be coming for our "free" stuff. And I'll be looking for the liberal SOB's who made them believe they had a right to it, too.

“I would also add that some would argue that the media is our main enemy. I go back and forth. Which is the main enemy, and which is the secondary one?”

Which is the main enemy? Government or media? Well, government has the power of coercion which the media doesn’t. But government is automatically suspect in the eyes of the public while the media is not, and therefore the media has more power to influence us (although that is changing). Government has the power of confiscated money to dictate its desires while media must try to influence us to spend our own money. Government exists to provide riches and power to politicians and bureaucrats while media exists to sell advertising to sell the products of its sponsors, thereby giving it fewer masters to please. Hard to say which is more damaging. Is it any wonder the politicians are eyeing ways to take over the media also? Together they are almost unstoppable. Divided, they savage each other, though I’m not sure they aren’t just two of a hydra’s heads. Neither is directly answerable to the public. No easy answer to your question.

“Fat,lazy and parasitic is no way to go through life!”

#####

Since about the mid-1960’s it certainly is.

As safe and reliable a life as there is, with government employment and its rich package of benefits and fat pension a close second.

Now be quiet and go back to earning redistributionist funds....er... I mean taxes.....no.... I mean money...yeah that’s it...ahem...money.
