Just pointing out that government employees can span many types of people. Like my conservative wife.

The problem is not with government employees on an individual basis. The problem is that government employees for the most part should not be government employees. They should be private employees under contract with the government.

Government employees and government employee unions are bankrupting every city, county, state and the federal government with all their luscious perks that they are given in exchange for their votes in local, county, state and federal elections.

So, even if you are a conservative, if you are a government employee then you are a part of the problem.

That makes a bit more sense.

I actually favor a plan to reduce the size of government that goes something like this:

1. Privatize various functions and agencies. Assuming they’re good at their jobs, the government employees who would be displaced should have a good shot at getting the privatized equivalent job.

2. Attrition - don’t rehire as certain individuals retire, instead, rework job descriptions when possible (like private companies do). LOTS of federal employees are retiring in the next decade. This doesn’t solve the pension problem however...

3. NO UNIONS for government employees. Make them keep their jobs and earn pay raises like the rest of us do. To add to that, change it so that one can get fired from government pretty much as easily as the private sector when they screw up.

I have more, but I am too busy to type it all out - the private sector doesn’t give me much free time at work...
