The funny thing is, he is driving his own numbers down. He keeps putting himself out there on the campaign trail blaming President Bush for his own failed policies. The people want a President who acts Presidential, one who leads, rolls up his sleeves and gets to work. Not some flunky who thinks the job of leader of the free world entails endless campaining. He is weak in all aspects of the job.

rolling 3-day samples are quite variable, and the "number" is the difference of 2 other numbers so that a swing of 1 person in 100 moves the number by 2.

Also, note that a history of very small swings was one of the tell-tale signs that Kos's pollster was just making up his results.

If you look at a longer-range average of 10-20 days, the picture is much more stable because the sample is much larger. Basically, O has been bumpong along around -16 or so for several months, wihtout much long-term trend.

This is why being a property owner was a proper prerequisite for voting.

Just pointing out that government employees can span many types of people. Like my conservative wife.

The problem is not with government employees on an individual basis. The problem is that government employees for the most part should not be government employees. They should be private employees under contract with the government.

Government employees and government employee unions are bankrupting every city, county, state and the federal government with all their luscious perks that they are given in exchange for their votes in local, county, state and federal elections.

So, even if you are a conservative, if you are a government employee then you are a part of the problem.

"He is weak in all aspects of the job."

That's because he's a political neophyte. He's the type of lefty who belongs in a classroom along with his buddy Ayers. Teaching is more his expertise, not real world experience. Before this job, he had none..

As Obama himself might say. Someone who has some "skin in the game"...

When his approval drops to 1/3rd, and/or disapproval to 2/3rds — I suspect that he will be removed from office using one of the escape clauses.

That makes a bit more sense.

I actually favor a plan to reduce the size of government that goes something like this:

1. Privatize various functions and agencies. Assuming they’re good at their jobs, the government employees who would be displaced should have a good shot at getting the privatized equivalent job.

2. Attrition - don’t rehire as certain individuals retire, instead, rework job descriptions when possible (like private companies do). LOTS of federal employees are retiring in the next decade. This doesn’t solve the pension problem however...

3. NO UNIONS for government employees. Make them keep their jobs and earn pay raises like the rest of us do. To add to that, change it so that one can get fired from government pretty much as easily as the private sector when they screw up.

I have more, but I am too busy to type it all out - the private sector doesn’t give me much free time at work...

I know a few people who were laid off last fall and STILL don’t have jobs...and they would still vote for him in a heartbeat.

You can't fix stupid.

It is intresting to watch the prellels between Carter and Obama. Not just in habit 0 has of adpoting Carter era policies or in the fact that both had huge majorities in Congress to work with but also in their media coverage.

Both Carter, and now 0, had political/media machines who spun non stop the notion that "Being President is really hard work" to excuse their fundamental incompetence they demonstrated in office.

Fun to compare and contrast how "hard" Carter or O have it in comparison to how such supposedly "Stupid" people like Ronald Reagan and GW Bush handled the job of President

I know a few people who were laid off last fall and STILL don’t have jobs...and they would still vote for him in a heartbeat.

The other thing is that a lot of people who were laid off want another GOOD job; they don't want some crappy job.

Because there are plenty of jobs out there, just not very good one's.

For example, the Waffle House down the street has had a HELP WANTED sign in their window for almost 9 months straight.

That sign has never been removed for more than a few days at a time.

I think it's because some people tried to work there and just couldn't do it.
