Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's carefully crafted image as a regular hockey mom has taken a few hits since her unsuccessful vice presidential bid.
~snips~
But all those who wonder whether revelations of her personal prima donna qualities will damage her image are proceeding from an assumption that she does, in fact, disguise her self-centered side well in managed environments. I've long disagreed with that assessment, because her famous Facebook postings often have the tone of a nasty, snotty, slightly dense but popular high-school girl. Sample recent line: "Okay, Mr. President, you tell us we have to keep looking backward (as were steered toward the cliff)."
Palin's dark side came out in full effect this weekend, and this time the victim was not President Obama but a schoolteacher in small-town Alaska. Palin was there to film segment of a nature program on TLC, and she confronted Kathleen Gustafson who was holding up a sign reading "WORST GOVERNOR EVER." Palin clearly intended to disarm Gustafson with her charm, but instead got defensive.
Gustafson, said, "You swore on your precious Bible that you would uphold the interests of this state, and then when cash was waved in front of your face, you quit." To which Palin responded, her tone dripping with unamusing sarcasm, "Oh, you wanted me to be your governor! Im honored! Thank you!" Palin went on to use the same tone of nasal condescension when saying she was "honored" that Gustafson considers her a celebrity.
It's true, schoolteachers are definitely not a Republican constituency, but anyone, even a Republican, running for president needs to make nice with them on a personal level, just as Democrats do with the military or police officers. This latest incident won't help Palin's negative favorability ratings.

And the Bushs didn’t?
“I seem to recall a lecture about posting the same subject the other day. Hmmmmm. Not that this has been posted the requisite 14 times yet. Still a tad under the Rahm-retard standard.”
The news in this article is the leftist spin in the media, not the encounter in Alaska.
A leftist hack brazenly, and grudgingly, admitting that Democrat politicians are politically compelled to “make nice” to the US military is a newsworthy item.
From what I saw on the video SP defused the confrontation and created a friendly discussion with this slightly obnoxious woman. I was thinking she may have been the L word until she mentioned her fisherman husband. Condolences to him.
She was very gracious. I would not have been so kind..Shannyn Moore is a certifiable whack job, she tried to set Sarah up with that loon but she failed miserably. Check out the tape, it was edited so bad it makes the Charlie Gibson interview look decent. Right at the part where Sarah starts saying why she resigned it was cut off, hmmm, perhaps Shannyn did not like Sarah’s answer. I tell ya, these loons are all the same, they all cant stand hearing the truth.
Sorta like Fluffy's dark side......
While filming the Alaska documentary in Homer, I had a brief discussion with a local lady who, in typical Alaska style, decided to give me her two cents worth about my political leanings, American politics in general, and much else besides. Its what makes our politics so uniquely democratic: two people discussing the things they care about, even though they respectfully disagree about just about everything (you can watch a brief video of the encounter here).
The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I wait for it appear to roll my eyes when the lady tells me shes a teacher. Yes, its come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe thats why Botox is all the rage if you cant move your eyebrows, your eye rolling cant be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would roll my eyes at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.
One good thing to come out of this little episode, though, is that it helps to remind people once again that Alaska is a great state full of independent-minded people. I look forward to introducing you to some of them in the forthcoming documentary series on life in Alaska! The show will remind you to get outdoors, breathe in Gods creation, and taste the freedom!

On the other hand maybe Pissant has a new penpal.
Any teacher who quotes a union party line doesn’t deserve anyone’s respect.
I love the smell of DNC FEAR in the morning...
HA commentators are just as good as FReepers. Anyway, pay no attention to Newsweak's bowel movement of an article.
Aren't teachers supposed to at least pretend not to be openly contemptuous of religion?
Now we know who Ben and the rest of the sixth grade girls that make up Journolist talk about at their sleepovers.
Gee, all I’m reading is the excerpt, but those first few lines are certainly unbiased!
Gag.
LOL. You betcha. They’ll stop calling us those names when the last one of them departs this earth..
Oh, I get it! Palin is “slightly dense”, but the brainiacs at that failing rag that HAD TO GIVE THE POS AWAY FOR $1.00 are really, really clever! Just like Barry! Always the smartest guys in the room.
I hope the journos at Newsweak have to get a real job soon.
They let him work still?
