Rendell: Many Republicans 'are nuts' By: Andy Barr August 9, 2010 04:27 PM EDT

Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell on Monday said that Republican desires to repeal the 14th Amendment are “cuckoo” and prove that many in the GOP “are nuts.”

Asked during an MSNBC interview about many Republicans’ calls to repeal the portion of the 14th Amendment providing citizenship to any person born in the United States, Rendell said the idea will likely turn off many independent voters.

“They're going to fire up their base, but I think it's a damaging strategy for independents,” he said. “If I'm an independent and I look at [GOP Gov.] Rick Perry saying Texas is going to secede from the union, and now I hear the Republican Party saying repeal the 14th Amendment — which has done so much good for the country — I'm beginning to worry that these guys are cuckoo.”

“Not all Republicans – there are plenty of good ones – but there are a lot of people who are nuts in there,” he said.

Both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner support holding hearings to review the amendment, and the idea has the support of numerous Senate Republicans looking for a way to cut down on the number of illegal immigrants who are able to live in the United States because their children – dubbed “anchor babies” by Republicans – were born in the country.

Remember it was the minority that wanted freedom from the King and the Revolutionary War.

Ben Franklin noted we need a good revolution every couple hundred years.

Never give up, never surrender.

From Rasmussen:

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Democrats think children born to illegal immigrants in this country should automatically become U.S. citizens. Seventy-six percent (76%) of Republicans and 60% of voters not affiliated with either major party disagree.

FAst Eddie, like most lefties, doesn't have a clue.

Nope, not this idea. Ask Americans: "Should the children of illegal aliens automatically receive US citizenship?" and the answer from most will be no.

“Rendell is nothing but an Obama socialist”

I believe you give Eddie way, way too much credit. Dedicated Socialist usually have some principles (be they socialist principles), but Eddie has absolutely none that I can detect.

He’s just a paid card board cutout actor on the political stage, with his passion play script designed to fool the masses into believing their is a legitimate political process operating in Pa. JMHO.

I am certain that all the Independents want 9 month pregnant Mexicans about to give birth to sneak across the border to a hospital emergency room and get auto citizenship. Yep the Democrats should run on that. A sure fire winner.

I think that the Pennsylvania governor needs to provide a few facts in connection with his statement that the 14th Amendment "has done so much good for the country."

There is a difference between what the Amendment does that is "good" and what it does that is foolhardy and out of step with other countries policies. Ed should correctly note that the Republicans want to "fix" the 14th Amendment so the USA does not grant citizenship in a mindless manner that taxes our systems. That's all, Ed.

...Here's a "Green Jobs" plan.

Build a giant gallows and hang every office holder in DC.

Be the best gubmint program ever.

---------------------------------

I agree with that

Here's more...

Obama has spoken some form of 'I' or 'me' more than 16,000 official times since he took office.

Just for that alone, he should be in impeached and thrown in jail.

People voted for this clown. Our military is being used in Iraq and Afghanistan but the Secretary of Defense is a coward. The judiciary is 'progressive'. TV controls the idiots and Zer0 the foreign occupier is in charge. Bloomberg sold out to the Saudis with Rupert Murdoch, et al.

Liar; Obama.

Cheater; Feds.

Thief; Congress.

Con artist; Piss-Stream Media.

Throw 'em all out.

Mr. President, you're a lying sack of crap.

WAKE UP AMERICA
