Mayor Bloomberg won’t stop talking about the mosque near Ground Zero, harshly attacking opponents yesterday who “ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
Sounding more supportive of freedom of religion than freedom of speech, Bloomberg said, "I just don't think the government should tell people where they can pray and where they can build houses of worship.
"It is a shame that we even have to talk about this," the mayor added on his WOR radio broadcast.
The mayor ratcheted up his rhetoric against critics just days after defending the mosque in an impassioned speech on Governors Island, with the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop.
Yesterday, Bloomberg said cops and firefighters who died on 9/11 didn't ask people in the World Trade Center, "Where do you pray?" as they tried to save their lives.
"Most of the [9/11 rescuers'] families that I've talked to, they say, 'Of course our loved ones gave their lives to protect the very freedoms that we're talking about here -- people being able to practice religion and say what they want to say and be in control of their own destiny,' " the mayor said.

You tell 'em, Mayor Bloomberg. How dare the government think that it can tell people where they can and can't build buildings.
We don't need no stinkin' planning and zoning departments, commissioners, or regulations. Time to shut down all of those corrupt building inspectors and their lousy permits.
It's about time that a responsible government official stood up to the vast and grotesque overreach of stifling and petty government regulations that needlessly burden the lives of ordinary citizens.

Let's look overseas: Hamas, which is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood has been formally designated a terrorist organization under our law for many years. According to its charter, Hamas's purpose is to create an Islamic Palestinian state by eliminating Israel through violent jihad.
The Muslim Brotherhood explained in an internal memorandum that their work in the United States was as a 'grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.' The Brotherhood said its tactic would be 'sabotage.'
The 1991 memorandum elaborates that every city should have an 'axis' and 'perimeter' from which this jihad-by-sabotage strategy is headquartered. That axis will be known as 'the Islamic Center.' Islamic centers are to become 'the ‘base’ for our rise, the memo says. They are to be the focal point of education, preparation, and the 'supply of our battalions.' Battalions are small cells of fighters. In Muslim Brotherhood ideology it is assumed that, at a certain mature point, when Muslim forces are strong enough, violent jihad will be effective. And Islamists prepare for it. Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, the spiritual guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, has proclaimed that 'dawa', the stealth form of jihad, is the method by which Islam will 'conquer America' and 'conquer Europe.'
The Saudis have been underwriting the Brotherhood's dawa efforts for decades.
Appeasement does not work, and has never worked all throughout history.
On May 28, 2010, President Obama informed the world that the 'war on terror' was over.
'Our long-term security will not come from our ability to instill fear in other peoples but through our capacity to speak to their hopes,' the President explained. Terms like new partnerships, multilateral diplomacy, and tough engagement surfaced in the document, all leading to Obama's point that 'to succeed, we must face the world as it is.'

Who does Bloomberg think he’s kidding with this “if Muslims can’t build the mosque RIGHT HERE the terrorists have won” nonsense? Does he believe NYers and all Americans are stupid?

Here’s what I send to Bloomberg’s office:
In ten years, you’ve been unable to rebuild the Twin Towers or even create a decent memorial to the 9/11 victims. Instead, you now support building a Mosque which will be widely seen in the Muslim world as a symbol of triumph over America. This symbol of triumph will inspire confidence among radical Islamists that they can indeed defeat the U.S. As such, your Mosque will be used as a recruiting tool for terrorists and will encourage further attacks on the U.S. This is not simply a political issue; this strikes at the soul of America. You have no idea the depth of the outrage in America over the 9/11 Mosque. You better be prepared to have 24/7 police protechtion of your Mosque during and after construction. America is not about to let you and your simmering liberals to desicrate our country and give aid and comfort to our enemies by building a Mosque next to the most destructive attack on America since Pearl Harbor. Your support of the Mosque is tantamount to treason.
Bloomberg is nothing but a pathetic Soros wannabe. Vast sums of personal wealth are no insurance against: (1) ingratitude toward your ancestors and previous generations (who made the ultimate sacrifice so that the wealthy today could flourish in relative security and freedom); (2) mental illness; and (3) megalomania. What really angers is that amongst all of the scions of wealth in this country, who have benefited most from capitalism, free markets, the rule of law, and freedom of expression (excepting Limbaugh) there is not to be heard the tiniest mouse squeak in opposition to the wholesale destruction the left is raining down upon this country. It is emanating from every branch of the federal government and its policies of appeasement and collusion toward Mexico and the drug cartels, continued appeasement toward Islam, laissez faire toward illegal alien invasion and anchor citizenship, DOJ refusals to deport and secure the border in accordance with the rule of law already established in the statute books, DOJ lawsuits against state legislatures who are trying to support and enforce existing federal law in the presence of the federal government’s abject refusal to do so in contravention of its clear Constitional duty to do so, and accommodation and financial support for sworn Muslim enemies such as Hamas. Add to this mix virulent hostility toward our most important ally Israel. Whatever has happened to “noblesse oblige”? And how is it that the left has managed to poison the minds of every dynastic family in America? And silenced the tongues of those who have not been co-opted? These are questions that must be resolved if the country is not to be devoured. We need to have the dynastic families on our side. Right now they are not. All branches of the federal government are in the hands of usurpers and enemies of the Constitution. The ballot box is a farce, with both parties currently owned by the liberal elites. The military has been feminized and castrated (suicidal ROE’s), and is all but useless except for window dressing or limited police actions (Afghanistan and Iraq) and humanitarian functions. A pitched battle today between Chinese or Korean military forces on the ground, who operate under no politically correct regulations, and the U.S military, constrained by bureaucratic political correctness would be a disaster of incredible proportion for our side. Computers are incapable of destroying an enemy without the back up of a strong institutional and personal will to do so. The Tea Party has succumbed to demonization from the race-baiters, and is now largely in reactionary purge mode. A virulent entrenched hatred for middle class values unites illegals, family dynasties, organized religions, and liberals in the federal government and the media. This is the most pernicious alliance middle America has ever had to deal with. The states have the best chance of cutting the tendrils and the monetary lifelines to the cancer that is Washington DC but it will take very powerful and controversial state legislative initiatives across the map to get this off the ground. I am not certain it can be accomplished in the time remaining before the balance of power shifts irretrievably in favor of America’s enemies here and abroad.

Where has his nibs been? Christian churches get turned down for conditional use permits all the time due to city zoning rules and regs.
Will this mosque be paying taxes?
The very freedoms he speaks about are trampled on by Islam and the Imam pushing this project wants sharia law in the US ending all personal liberty.
