I am a scoutmaster from the national jamboree from the north east region, this arena show had an audience of over 100,000 people.
45,000 Boy Scouts, 20 to 30,000 adult scouters, the rest were visitors.
Here is what I saw and heard at the conclusion of what I would call the president's public service announcement, almost complete silence, you could have heard a pin drop! Many of the Scout leaders turned and faced the crowd during the announcement, about 5% of the crowd and mostly non uniformed spectators were booing the president,of the several thousand scouts around me and my troop of 36 the scouts were sad and silent.
However, a short time later, Dirty Job's Mike Rowe stepped on the stage and received a standing, cheering ovation from nearly all 100,000 in the arena. In addition, each scout had been given an United States Flag, and at the conclusion of the presidents video taped message you could barely see one flag in the sea of scouts, and at the ovations for Mike Rowe the flags were high and waving!
If that does not provide some irony I do not know what does.

From my understand the video from the president was played even before the main body of scouts were present.
His speech was not featured as part of the main body of the evenings festivities.
BTW welcome to FRee Republic.

Thank you for your eye witness account.
I think the contrast between the response to the “0” remarks and what followed says it all.
