The actual gender gap for the 1960 election was only 2%. Many women voted for Nixon-heck, more women than men, percentagewise voted for Ike in 1952 and 1956.

Kind of different than what the media tells us-just like Nixon won most of the under 30 vote in 1968 and 1972

In 1960 government wasn’t yet in the business of Husbandry, The process had been given a big LBJ kickoff but most adult women were married to actual individual husbands. Marriage was not yet the vicious minefield for men that it steadily became and young men expected and were expected to marry and did. That is radically different from the situation now. Now a young man fears that he will marry the girl of his dreams and as soon as he is financially successful she will divorce him and take the kids, his house and bank account and leave him paying over a huge portion of his wages/salary to support kids that he will not be allowed to have any contact with. And if he loses his job he will probably go to jail as a deadbeat dad there to stay until he pays all the “back” payments and associated fines and interest. Most young men know of someone related to themselves or to a friend who is wearing that yoke.
