Raw balls out, courage and heroism.
From the astronauts, as well as the very young engineers at Mission Control.
Those 10 minutes of audio should be required listenng for every American grade school student.

Sorry I leave the “KKKa” to the emotionally stunted children of Kos or DU.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Armstrong!
Had the privilege of briefly talking with both him and Captain Cernan while a Purdue undergrad back in the mid 70’s. Definitely one of the high points of my life.

The salute appears to be Jim Irwin of Apollo 15. Those are among the Mons Hadley peaks surrounding the plain at the elbow of Hadley Rille where that mission landed in 1971.
And here's one of the better 50 cm resolution images from 49 km over the Apollo 11 descent stage, swept up by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2009.

That is what I was thinking. I met Irwin once, years ago. Great man. Too bad he is no longer with us.

Happy birthday Dr. Armstrong!
By the way. I have always believed that you did say “for a man” and not “for man”. The problem was is the VOX setting of you radio net keying the transmitter on the soft ‘a’ sound.

And 43.7% of Americas yutes cant tell you who this genuine American hero is, but they can recite verbatim the Rosa Parks legend.
I find that hard to believe. Are you sure you have your facts straight?

“I find that hard to believe.”
I would not doubt that for a minute. The Lady Gaga generation would not know who Columbus was either, except that he has been vilified as an evil white man (and probably was!).

The photo in 7 is of Dave Scott, near Mt. Hadley, on Apollo 15.
This is Neil Armstrong on the Moon with Apollo 11
